Looks like Good Friday football is happening next year. Likely a game between North Melb v Bulldogs.

I welcome it. I am not religious and I find good Friday generally a flat day so having some footy to watch will be good I think.

I don't understand why religious groups make a big deal about it. Nobody takes issue with the church for having a hold on the day, so what right do they have to dictate to others what they do. God loves everyone, or so they keep telling us.

At the end of the day, those who don't want to watch it, don't have to. Its that easy.

Or they can be a  and cross to the dark side.

Why not use it as a religious marketing opportunity and have a Melbourne V St Kilda game and see whether the Saints can overcome the Demons :P

  • The VFL is not the AFL

The afl is showing signs of desperation. Crowds have fallen away since the expansion. Too many teams. Too many teams in Melbourne in particular.

Only two or three blockbusters per round. No wonder demetriou has called it a day.

They need this day to boost numbers. This is what it has come to.

Btw I have no affiliation with any religion.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Well , the last bastion of Footy Tradition has fallen to the almighty dollar, as Time for a Flag says this is just desperation stakes, give it a couple of years and crowds will stop turning up good friday as well,

the low crowds are getting embarrasing.

Can't see why people are upset over this. If you want to go to church, then go. If I want to go to the footy, then I should have equal choice and be able go to a game.
Aren't we a country of choice?? As for the AFL getting desperate, what a load of rubbish. The AFL have wanted this for years, but were stopped by one man. Now they have a new, forward looking boss and the long awaited event has final come to fruit.
