yeah contracts are nothing now - just something for the short term of 1 season , if that
he's been shopped by his manager for a better piece of paper and someone gave it

Clubs and their supporters are just pawns in the game of player managers, players and the AFL Players Association. I ended my Fremantle membership at the end of the 2016 season and the only Fremantle game I've been to since was because I bought a ticket to the WA v SA interstate match that was a curtain raiser to the Fremantle v Richmond game a few years back.

I've lost the interest I once had.

It just seems a little strange that the 2023 premiers are allowed to poach a guy from the AFL's 14th placed team in a league that champions its "equalisation" policy.
Yes I get that Schultz wants to go back to Melbourne for family reasons but there are 9 teams in that city and surely he could go to a club like North Melbourne who could use some good players to get back up the ladder? This would be more consistent with the policy rather than making the strong teams stronger.

it's a true indication of what that league really is behind the shiny facade - the VFL
and the VFL will look after the Victorian teams first and foremost before anything else
Sydney & Queensland get next dibs
I find it pretty distasteful that something as filthy dirty as North Melbourne get continual hand outs just to operate each season
and just look at the arsenal of draft picks this filth has been allowed to horde - what an absolute farce !
They are worse than what the old Fitzroy was except this so called commission keeps bailing them out

and further proof , as if it was ever needed , that the VFL only looks after Victorian interests
apparently that shithole North Melbourne were awarded 2 end of first round draft picks for the 2024 draft next year (dependant on performances in the 2024 season and to be reviewed before being finally approved )
well the slimy pieces of Victorian dogshit have already traded them out
and it's been approved by that fuckwit Dillon
this whole charade has gone back to the 1970's & 1980's where the VFL scumbags just do what they want and get away with it without a whisper from officials
what a fucking sick twisted joke of a competition

Harley has warmed to the idea of heading West already asking for the famous No 9. It’s more of a typically biased Melbourne media building it up that he doesn’t want to come here. Being a Fremantle supporter I’d just like to see a gun young player playing his footy in the West. We see enough of our young stars living and playing over east so why just focus on local young talent. Just take the best player available in the draft that suits your needs that’s what they always tell us.

If he gets home sick so be it will probably end getting more for him in a trade when he’s 22 or 23 than trading the pick now which becomes a lottery on how you use it. Look at the Judd trade, West Coast ended up the winners there by a fair margin I reckon and saw the best version of Judd before he left.

DD you know damn well if Trevor was going to draft this superwunderkind kid - he would have already come out and said so
that is Trevor's memo
everyone knows he's given North Melbourne the list of what he wants and it's been seen by all this trading activity over east
Trevor knows that wunderkind kid is going back home regardless
and so does most other people

I think they have made new draft rules regarding contracts for new draftees. Minimum 3 years now. Their focus, some might say obsession with WA kids, hasn’t paid off. The Eagles sometimes outsmart themselves trying to be clever. KISS is usually the best method.

I see Fremantle are making a play for Tyler Brockman using Liam Henry as the trade.

contracts?
there could be 10 year minimum contracts , it doesn't matter anymore
these players can still break them at will , and now with that SA kid as an example there is a legal precedent set
end of game and it's widely understood now
This kid's family got what they wanted out and now the ball rolls

that ex-Subiaco kid will walk to the pre-season draft I'm told
