Maybe they could go play in the VFL and the WAFL can retain some integrity

Wafl clubs need money not integrity.Integrity won't save them.

What the WAFL needs is to replace Gavin Taylor and the WAFC with people who actually care about the WAFL and make decisions that will ensure the viability and integrity of the WAFL.

Very well said.

You guys may be right.I doubt a stand alone team will be allowed so long as two or three wafl clubs will want to align and solve their financial woes.

Guys I don't want to be critical of others. I'm not here for that.
I can't see the bloody point in another Wafl club being taken over and ruined.
What's the damn point?
We will only end up in the same stupid situation we are now!
Running around a never ending mouse wheel. How does that benefit anything?
Haven't we learnt any lessons.

I think the Eagles stand alone side is the least worst of the realistic options. Then as WAG said we don't stuff up another traditional WAFL club. Have a look at how the Adelaide Crows have set up their team in the SANFL and use that as a model. They are not going to go back to the pre alignment scenario and unfortunately the WAFL is not a strong or financially viable enough competition any more that they can just tell the AFL clubs to go stuff themselves.

We know what happened the last time the clubs knocked back a stand alone team.Suspect history will repeat. What could be worse a stand alone team or another team giving up their identity as a aligned team.Maybe letting the eagles have a stand alone team may also stop them moving into a afl reserves comp.Once they leave bye bye money and who folds first.

The WAFL will be totally finished if the AFL form a reserves comp, not only all the money that the WAFL is reliant on but about 25% of the players as well. The doors would close.

A stand alone team probably is the best Chad22, but will they get that up and running in less than 12 months? it's the WCE preferred model apparently, but the WAFL clubs don't want it, there were 3 clubs that expressed an interest in the alignment last time, there will be one or two interested now.

or conversely a WCE reserves side could play at Lathlain on the weekends Perth plays away and make a few extra $ for the Dees over the bar etc.

Yep, agree BC, make most sense to play at Latho for mine, they have two oval there anyway, better still share new facilities cut costs and laugh all the way to the bank.

Further to this if I was a PFC member I'd be highly alert at this point of time given the constitution vote that has been postponed recently (as highlighted by a posting member of this site in the last 2 weeks)
This so-called statement of a "preferred position" to field a stand alone side in the WAFL has me thinking there's another surprise on the way - "preferred" is vastly different to confirmed

Absolutely spot on mate, I reckon its on the way, put the redevelopment together bundle it all up and its pretty obvious what the plan is or always has been rather.

who's going to man the gates.who gets the money for food and drinks.no like the idea that eagles will have to play away gives all other clubs a extra home game.
