After years of hysteria about the effects of the alignment teams it is interesting to see how it has panned out this year.In the SANFL the Crows failed to make the finals and Port failed to make the GF.West Adelaide won there first premiership for 32 years defeating the West Torrens-Woodville Eagles. In the VFL the stand alone Williamstown defeated the Box Hill Hawks and as we know neither aligned teams made the grand in the WAFL.I think it will only be time before we have true Dockers and Eagles teams in the WAFL.

East Perth were quite well placed before the alignment to be more than competitive on field. I don't think a keen WAFL follower would dispute that. Would it be cheeky to suggest the team that lost to Subi had no respect for the jumper and no passion. Or fairer to suggest Subi are very good.

26,000 at the SANFL GF , 13,000 WAFL.

Wow thats a pretty damning statistic Bazza, especially given the population of Perth is much higher than that of Adelaide. Can we borrow some of the SANFL people and get them to fix up our comp?

Time to move the wafl gf to a smaller venue, subi was a shithouse spectacle...sooner the waca deal is done the better.

Good luck to the South Australians; but, they too have made big concessions to the AFL. In regards to our own state, although mistakes have been made from 1986 onwards, the biggest problem is in the mentality of the public. We have too many 'I was people'; that, is 'I was a South supporter' or 'I was a 'SD supporter'. If another sports fad hit town in coming decades, those same people would abandon the WCE and Fremantle soon enough.

C22 when did you move to the land of fantasyland? Speaking of and for the WAFL: Subiaco and the two teams masquerading as East Perth and Peel this year. There is EVERY EXPECTATION that:
(i) there will be a final four in the WAFL next year; and
(ii) three of the four clubs, barring an exceptional run of injuries, will be Subiaco and the two teams masquerading as East Perth and Subiaco.

Bazza how many neutrals would have attended the WAFL GF on Sunday? Therein lies the problem. Without wishing to be to criticised for being too Swans oriented I would respectfully suggest that there was more excitement and emotional attachment at Swans' last home game and victory than there was at the WAFL GF on Sunday. Even the cheering at the presentation of the players receiving their medals was decidedly muted for most players.

I will further suggest that anyone who thinks that providing the two WA domiciled AFL teams a reserves' team in the WAFL is delusional and hopelessly misguided.

might be they don't have a very negative g7 over there.they have embraced the crows and port having stand alone teams and have bigger crowds at the gf's and have had two traditional teams win the last two premierships. The wafl hasn't been damaged by the eagles and dockers. It began it's huge decline with more players leaving to play in the vfl from the early eighties onwards and crowds stopped going to wafl games.state of origin games reminded us that the wafl was becoming a second rate comp.
