Have noticed a slight increase in the qualifying game crowd figures so far this season. After the first round [to week 8], the total being 66,365. Compared to 60,367 at the same last season. Then at the completion of round 2 (at week 16) a return of 133,473. There was 132 thousand and 86 at the corresponding time last season. The figures are not setting the world on fire but at least not gone backwards. Will be interesting to see attendance figures for the last few remaining weeks as the end of the season draws nearer.

  • The VFL is not the AFL

We can thank West Perth for the crowd of 7k plus on their UK day and the SF EF derby. Also Peel a little bit for the increases.

Not saying that SD are not continuing to do well but these two games and Peels increase have driven it.

If Perth had Subi's success for 3 years I wonder what the numbers would be.

I still think EF have to do more outside of the Derbies
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Agree TFF....a resurgent performance by Perth that ended in success would be a godsend for the WAFL in general. Maybe not for the WAFC and their future plans but would certainly be good for the comp itself. How you blokes still stay passionate about your club and footy after the last 30 odd years without much to celebrate is a great credit to you all.

So I take it WP, EF, SF and Swans are the leading clubs for attendance per match.

Yep, totally agree, I don't know how they do it. As an east Freo supporter, I've given up going for this year, as I just can't handle watching crap! This weekend just gone further justification. Plus the wife prefers me to not go as well, as when they keep losing I'm in a bad mood and the dog and cat stay away from my boots as well!!

Given the "improved" attendances this season and with both Fremantle's and the Eagle's reserves teams in the finals and the exposure of the Channel 7 telecast; surely the 2015 WAFL Grand Final will be near Subiaco's capacity.

Hopefully Swans don't make the finals with crowds like the 750 they got on Saturday it would be embarrassing. That is the lowest WAFL crowd I have ever seen in the Paper.

Perhaps you might like to check the WAFL site for the attendance figure. The West figure was almost as accurate as the best players for Swans' league players listed in yesterday's Sunday Times.

Sbelly, I was at the game in the outer as a Subi supporter and for once the paper was fairly close, certainly no more than a 1000, would have been at least 4:1 Swans supporters but was genuinely surprised that despite the weather which was very windy, there was only one really bad bit of weather during the second qtr and we are constantly told Swans supporters come out rain hail or shine, they had such an abysmal showing given their season was pretty much on the line and they seem to hate Subi with a passion. Real shame for those thousands of swans supporters who missed what was a great game and an epic win against the odds by the Ducks.

Wasn't too far off at 1000, WAFL site has it at 1344 still a really poor effort for a critical Swans home game.
