Hi guys

The website has been re-launched with a new fresh design, and much more data added.

Now includes partial or complete player details for over 7100 players including each and every Swan Districts player. Records for teams, venues, season and even rounds are included.

Check it out. Any issues let me know either through here, Facebook, Twitter or email via the site.

Thanks Ric what a great sight it is now with the stats etc etc
Just spent an hour going through different sections. Great layout.
Especially enjoyed the Player stats but other sections were incredible as well and everything you want to know is there.

Recommend this site to every true WAFL supporter. Well done mate.

Here is the link to the site. You will be impressed

Thanks Cardy and Anchorman

Appreciate your words, still updating seems like daily lately.

Been adding player games and goals for 1994-1996 and will be continuing adding 1997-2005, which will then mean I have every player for every game from 1991 - 2015. Once that's done, what will be a slower process, will be completing player details for 1979-1982 and 1988-1990. I now have over 7250 players in the database with the addition of 1994-1996.

I have recently also added a search function which allows you to search for one of over 7250 players now included - either full or partial career - or for any stats. My player data (and match data with qtr x qtr) scores is the most comprehensive anywhere online far more then the WAFL online page too.

The next major inclusion stat wise is the re-introduction of streaks and sequences of which have been causing me a fair bit of grief in being able to pull the data form my database and display them online.

I have the updates on the home page.

Game reviews are still there for each game in 2015, and last few rounds including finals in 2014, I'll be re-adding 2013 and 2014 reviews as well. Click the [See more] link for the game on the Match Scores & Ladders page for each season to view the exclusive game review stats. Check back weekly for those.

I am not posting regular updates on here this season, so for those not following on Facebook or Twitter, please do so you can be updated with the latest on the site. Also advise when the game reviews are online via FB and Twitter.

Also on my to-do list is to complete player jumper number stats - this is a long process going back over budgets and a bit down on the pecking list - but would help with the 'Best player in jumper # thread. A large number of players do have their jumper numbers included in part or in full - every swans player for example's jumper # is included.

Thanks again Cardy and Anchorman. Would be keen for other feedback - wish list etc going forward...

Thanks Ric.

Very interested in the Player numbers as not much of a record on them
I noticed on your players link there were no numbers.
What brought it to mind was the Thread on here re Famous no 1's
Ended up just going with Simon Duckworth as a number 1... Remember a few others as well as they were my favourites and funny how you still see players now playing in their number and you think of them. E.G 37 Paul Mifka etc etc .. wont go through them all now.
A recent one is Braydon Antonio who is wearing no 2 Sala's old number.

There must be a great history on numbers and what players in each club is wearing now that once belonged to legends. Sure a lot of WAFL fans think along the same lines as me when they see a number of a player they paid special attention and will never forget them.

I realize a bit of number changing goes around as in Braydon who was wearing 13 and changed to no 2... Luke Meadows from WP is now in the number 13 jumper so this could cause some problems for you. Then you have the players who have been around a few clubs and change their number at each club.

I had a bit of dilemma last year when posting something on OZFOOTY and it came down to the players number.. I looked at Brian Atkinsons great book ITS A GRAND OLD FLAG where he has every player up to 2007 listed in the Complete list of WP players and he DIDNT have their jumper numbers.. Bugger back to google or pics of the player/players with them wearing their jumper.

It will be a useful section for this reason. Dont know how you are going to approach it though and it could be a BIG job. I do go into the Change room at WP and they have players listed on the lockers who have worn that number. Thant comes in handy and is a gentle reminder of the players who have played under a number. Great idea. Not sure if other clubs do it?

Footy Budgets and Westside Footy is a great section and brings back a lot of memories

Anyway great talking about our history and enjoy your sight immensely even if it is just to surf your site and look at all the History and stats. Takes you back in time

I must say, what a fabulous site. The work that must have gone into this would be enormous. Personally I would like to express my appreciation to those who put in such a great personal effort to get it going. I enjoy looking back on such great times in local footy and our lives. A wonderful achievement. Thank you.

My dad and I both do the same with Swans players to wearing jumper numbers of our favourite past players too. Good to see we aren't the only ones.

I simply enter the player number for each player for each game they play, not for their career as a whole, so if their number changes during the season as sometimes happens with young players with high numbers, my site will capture both numbers in the individual game listing and the actual number in the player stats section of the game review page. The players season summary will always pick up the first number they wore in that particular season.

Unfortunately even the WAFL website which has player details from 1994, doesn't have player numbers for every game, so when I import the stats to my site the player number is 0, I then need to manually check old budgets for the particular game to get the player number. So it's gonna be a big job for me and take plenty of time. Once all numbers are done I'll have a records section on numbers as in most games played in jumper #, most goals etc. but I reckon that's at least a year away.

Glad you're still enjoying the site, happy to bring back memories of when the WAFL was Footy in WA!

Thanks Jardine. Pretty much a one man effort Jardine, lots of time over the last 5/6 years invested in gathering data and building the website from the embryonic 2013 version to a slightly more advanced 2014 version to my flash new 2015 site. Still plenty to go.

Just an idea of the amount of player data I have - I have 199,843 rows of individual player data - that's one row per player per game. Considering I only have goalscorers rather than complete team lists for most seasons from 1929 to 1982, 1988-1990 and 1997-2005 - apart from Swans where I have every player for every game - there's probably anther 200,000 to go - aargh!

The people that have helped, and their contributions are recognized on my website - if anyone out there would like to help adding player data, jumper numbers etc, I'd more than happy to have you on board.

Tell me something Ric most probably a stupid question but just put an extract of MOST Hit Outs... and Most Hit Outs in a game on the WP thread..
Yeh Chris on top in both

e.g ozfooty.net/joomla16/forum/westperth/393...dalup?start=20#66245

How do the updates go in there.. is the most hit outs updated after every game.
Assume it would have to be a data base thing? So I assume this Most of Section just updates itself via data transfer?

Do you get this data from the WAFL site after each game so it automatically updates ?
