Hit outs like other player data on my website is restricted to 2006 onwards with 1968, some of 1969 and some seasons in the 80's also included currently - so these lists may not be accurate. For example its unlikely Chris Kuenen has the most hitouts ever in the WAFL, just for data currently in my database. I mention a few times that player data may be incomplete on the site.

I extract the data directly from the WAFL website each week and import it into my database and upload it to my web database.

I have access to player stats for other years via westside football old newspapers etc which I will need to add manually.

The whole website is now fully automated so I just upload the scores and player data after each game and all the tables, player data, stats, records etc update automatically. The reason I don't have streaks and sequences yet is that I haven't been able to work out how to calculate them from my database - that's the next high priority.

My first version in 2013 I manually entered everything, last year was a bit of both - so I am moving on as I learn how to do more. :)

Cheers

Ric

Thanks Rick I did notice the players listed were from a certain era but players on those lists are still worthy of being there and it does give a indication as to where they are at when it comes to available stats.

Sounds like Technology is certainly helping you out. You would have to feel for the guys who did it before technology came along but having said that they most probably enjoyed it. It would of been a slow job but then before computers everything was a slow job in regards to accounts etc etc etc.

keep up the good work because Stats and History are a huge part of our football and they will be there for future generations.

I have to admit that looking at this magnificent site started me thinking of the infancy of my fervent support of Swan Districts. I immigrated to Australia in 1967 as a 10 year old from the UK and we moved to a new housing estate in High Wycombe.

We were befriended by a family who supported Swans and one day they took me to Bassendean to see this game that was totally foreign to me. My memories of the game were very vague but I do remember seeing a lot of guys running around in Red and Black and they were making the guys in black and white look very silly.

Our friends talked with reverence about a guy with blond hair named Cable who appeared to be everywhere that particular day. Funny enough being a young lad you would have thought I would jump on the bandwagon of this super Demons team who were on their way to a 3rd consecutive flag, but I actually felt sorry for the Swans( and my friends) and so I adopted the Swannies as my team and I was hooked from that day on.

Thanks to this website I was able to pinpoint the exact day that I went to my first footy game, It was Saturday June 8th 1968 and Perth kicked 28- 22 -190 to Swans 12 - 8 - 80 to win by 110 points. Also Barry Cable got 40 possessions that day with Billy Walker gathering a respectable 36 touches in a team that was getting flogged. I wonder if any of the Perth guys who post here were at that game? Its possible I guess.

Ironically the only game that I couldnt get to at Bassendean from then on was the one game that Swans won all year. I listened on the radio as a guy called Holmes kicked a goal after the final siren to give the Swannies victory by a solitary point. I was an excited 11 year old that day! :cheer:

I will continue to explore your website looking for these types of memories. Well done mate you have really developed this into a masterpiece which will record and document the history of WA footy long after we are gone.

Cheers Astros and Mikeh - some memories Mike - I love hearing stories like that, always make me think of my first tastes of footy with my dad, granddad and uncle in the early 1980's - glad you were able to find details of your first game on the website.

Thanks heaps for the praise - makes it all worthwhile knowing you guys enjoy the site as much as I do making it - apart from the odd stressful moment here and there.

I am currently working on my streaks pages, which I seem to just about have down pat, although the data is taking a while to display - all these little things. wish I had all the time I the world to finish the site - maybe a genie could come along and finish it for me or a magician like cable and walker....

Hi Rick dont know how often you come on here so have sent you a PM as well.

Great Tipping in round 8 as you got all the winners... Not a easy task. :(

Just wondering if you still have the match previews and Reviews of the games like you did in the past. Cant seem to find them.. except for your tipping.

I found the info after a game when you put it on a couple of days later for the WP thread.
Would of been interesting to read them on the WP V EP game last week.
I realise you most probably have them spread accross your board but a lot of searching.

Heres an example of what I mean from previous posts last year.. just in case you dont know what I mean

Keep the good work.. Great to have comprehensive history of the WAFL in one place and current records and facts etc etc

Ric dont know if your aware but your Westside Footy paper doesnt want to play (on my computer anyway) :(
The Budget comes up no worries so not my Adobe causting the problem

Hi Cardy

Good to hear from you again. No previews this year - don't have the time but I provide one stat a week for the WAFL official preview with my tips. Reviews are still a big part of the site and are available for every game in 2015, and a few towards end of last season as I have had to re-enter them in the new website format.

Here's the link to the WP v EP game

www.waflfootyfacts.net/gamestats.php?GameID=9128

You can access the reviews from the Match Scores & Ladders page for the season, then click the [See more] link, then click Game Reviews, or scroll down the page.

In any of the data tables, you can click the round, season link to access the game page and review

Think the westside footy didn't upload properly and I haven't gone back to fix it as no one complained - i'll sort it out tomorrow as Wednesday is my day to upload new budgets and westside footy.

FYI: I add links to all games on my facebook page and on twitter after the games.

Cheers

Ric

For those of you that aren't on facebook or twitter where I provide regular updates - I have now full team lists for 1968, 1969 (part of), 1982-1986, 1991-2000 and 2006-2015 as well as every swans team list (which you'd already be aware of) I am currently adding 2001-2005 and should have them done in about a month. After that I'll be going back and adding 1979-1981 and 1987-1990. After that i'll be endeavouring on the rest. I also post updates on the home page.

There's now over 7250 players on the site covering either their full career of part thereof.

and off course more stats, records and information then you can poke a stick at. Even got some air time on 6pr bouncing around on Sunday.

Still a long way to go though
