Very cool here in Adelaide. English type conditions. Aussies need to get through the new ball tomorrow and try and extend their innings to as close to the dinner break as possible. By that time you would think that they would have a score in the vicinity of 350 -400 and Starc and co can unleash at the English batsmen under lights with the new ball hooping around with any luck. Not a pleasant thought for Cook, Root and the others. From Englands point of view, they would want to finish off the innings in the first session and be batting by tea. Let's see what happens.

mikeh should be in for a cracking few days of viewing at the Adelaide Oval......could go either way today.....Aust collapse and all out for 250 or Marsh & Hanscombe build a score up around the mid 300's.....if the latter occurs will be very hard for Eng to win from there......looked like Marsh and Hanscombe battled hard to stay there till stumps....kudos to them both, be disappointing if they both go early to the new ball today.....

Lots of chat out there yesterday.....obviously the English are trying to rile up a few Aussie ego's.....would of loved Warner and Smith just to shut their mouths for once, smile, not say anything and wind up the poms even more....both kind of fell into the English targeted games.....made starts but fell short of punishing the English retorts good and proper

Have to agree Freeze Smith should have just smiled back (or laughed seeing as tho that has got up the English goat) and not said a word ditto for Warner but biting back played right into their hands and the Poms had the last laugh so to speak getting them reasonably cheaply on a pretty flat Adelaide deck!

Yep he did very well, was watching when both the lbw decisions were made against both Marsh and Paine and how different the game could have looked. On the split second decision that had to be made it would be harsh to be critical of the umpires, in real time both looked out, pitching in line etc, however the bounce and it going over the top of the stumps.
Think there may have been quite in recent decades who would have liked this technology back then.
Well done by Marsh, hopefully for him he stays injury free and gets a decent run.

That is all folk want Marsh to do....deliver on his potential consistently and produce pressure innings like that back to back......and continue to do so.....ditto his brother too who has delivered since being elevated to WA captaincy.....

Great knocks by Marsh, Paine and Cummins today......perhaps Cummins is that allrounder Lehmann covets so badly.....Handscomb once again provides another contiki knock (18-30)...really needs to cash in or he could find himself on the outer like Renshaw.....

Perhaps Cummins may keep the younger Marsh out if he stays fit and continues to show the technique with the bat. He looks better than Starc and he has already scored over 1000 test runs.
Cummins looks like he has a genuine patience, which can then be followed by aggression.
With Starc and Cummins at 7 & there is certainly depth in the batting.

First day of cricket I have ever seen at the Adelaide Oval. Loved every minute of it. Great knock under pressure from Marsh. He had a bit of fun before the declaration belting Broad back over his head for 6. He was lucky to get away with that LBW. Everyone around me thought that was out but great referral by Shaun. Tim Paine showed why the selectors picked him, he was the batsman who released the stranglehold that the English bowlers had with some sensible attacking play. As for Pat Cummins, surely he is best number 9 to play the game. His technique is as good as a top order player and he deserves at least to come in ahead of Starc.
The late rain was very timely for England as I reckon they might have lost a few more wickets in the last hour. As it is a draw is the favorite at the moment unless our bowlers can run through them tomorrow which will be hard as the pitch is playing very well.
I will be back there tomorrow for another dose. Day/Night test cricket is here to stay believe me. The atmosphere is great (the Richies were the stars today) I wouldn't be surprised if the first test played at the Perth Stadium was a pink ball game

Great to see Sean Marsh doing well in the baggy green. Got to be one of the unluckiest players in regards to injuries. Hopefully he can get a good run out of his body for a couple of years at least.
Get on your bike.

What a marathon spell by Anderson. 11 overs on the trot if you don't mind
He and Woakes were swinging it around everywhere in the night air. Has bought England back into the contest although if the Aussie's can get another hundred at least tomorrow, you would think they would be OK as Starc and Co will be able to bowl at them in similar conditions in the 3rd session on the 4th day
