If ever there was a demonstration of the total inadequacy of the WACA as a modern major sporting venue for this city it would be today with the crowd crush, terrible facilities and woeful capacity of 21 000.

No wonder they will get no more tests,

This joint is a joke, capacity of 21,000 is farcical in a city of 1.5 million.

Has to be fixed up because it is the nest cricket pitch in the world. The WACA facilities were better 15 years ago when footy was played there. Why they downsized only god knows.
But personally I want cricket at the WACA forever.

Correct the wicket is unique, just need to upgrade facilities.

Bazza why is the capacity farcical most venues in England hold the same capacity if not less and the population in England almost triples ours.

That's always been my thinking , the joints the only venue in Australia that has actually gone backwards, what a joke,

Mate the pitch can be replicated, the turf and soil make up can be set up anywhere on the coastal plain , the real factor is climate hot dry summers which are constants , there's no reason a similar pitch could not be put into burswood.

By that thinking the Boxing Day test should be played at princess park and not the MCG, who gives a toss. About small pommie grounds , 21,000 iis a joke, it's now the worst venue in Australia, Jez,,,have a look at the Adelaide oval now,

There is no way that a centre square wicket would be put in at Burswood! If any cricket was to be played at the new stadium it would be on a drop in pitch.

The issue is not the capacity of the ground but the out dated facilities for the players, the fans and the media. It's an absolute disgrace and not that dissimilar in standards to subi oval. There would be very few areas at the ground where viewing would be comfortable for anyone.

You are dead right MD and I love your avatar too by the way!
The actual pitch & playing surface at the WACA is close to if not the best in the world but on the other side of the fence it is nothing short of a disgrace much like Subi Oval.
It has really come home to roost how bad the facilities are for spectators in this day & age during this Test with every day being over 40 degrees and almost no shade to provide relief despite paying good money so hopefully this will help everyone in this at times backward state to realise how badly we need a new stadium ASAP!
With now even Adelaide a city & state with half the population of Perth & W.A and a far worse economy now having a brilliant brand new facility/stadium at Adelaide Oval for footy and cricket it is long overdue for us finally over here in the West to have a proper modern stadium to cater for both sports and just keep the WACA for 1st class cricket and Tests not involving the larger drawing countries like England!
