It is getting close and it will be interesting given the polled perception of morrison and the general opinion of albanese.

I will still vote labour in the reps cos that is who I am and I will regret that it will help albanese get to kirrabilli if enough of the population is swayed to the left for them to win. I will always vote for Dr Anne Ali as I have found her to be a rational and clear voice for WA as compare to Mickey Cash. I saw cash on Nine this morning (my wife watches it so it is on in the background) and I was frankly embarrassed by her, she is from WA but should really put her birth place and residence as the Ozarks.

Albanese is a one trick pony. Just complain about how everything the government has done, without actually giving any real solutions. Like most opposition leaders i guess, but he is especially negative about everything. Its irritating

Everytime Labour win Federal office .Thinks go wrong quickly.
1983 -Hawk+Keating had to totally restructure the  Australian Economy.
2007-Rudd was PM a few months and the GFC landed on his lap.
2022-Albo will be dealing with a petrol price high inflation economy.Sparking interest rate hikes .That will crash the real estate market. The average mortgage now is around 500k.

And it is their own fault according to those on the right of the pendulum.

How they deal with it is the point of contention for me, GFC as a recent example, yep there were mistakes but no more than the current regime has made, yes they borrowed but it really does pale into insignificance again to morrisons debt levels but given all of that do the left have the wherewithal to do the tasks required by a government in these times, I think so but ........

Grump both sides have had to deal with situations outside of their control that have resulted in massive spending and massive debt. Rudd spent up big to combat the GFC with some poorly controlled spending on home insulation and the so called school halls programme, Morrison by comparison has had the much harder task of dealing with a world wide pandemic that no one anywhere in the world initially new how to deal with. The Libs jobkeeper/jobseeker programme was a fantastic thing to do to those majorly affected by the shutdowns. My business for one would have crashed and burned if Jobkeeper was not available, but it was poorly overseen and some got benefits that really weren't warranted, but it saved so many businesses and individuals along the way. So given my personal situation, the Libs will get my support, but like many I'm not overly impressed with Morrison and even less so with with Pinko Albo. Oh for a real statesman who can show some real leadership qualities, both camps are sadly lacking in that department.

No Government with polling this bad so close to the election has ever won in the history of federal politics, for mine the Libs are cooked, but tbh two terms are about the max any government is going to last since the exit of Howard.

With WA losing a seat to Vic that makes it hard as well.

To make it worse, Palmer will put a bowling ball through the right wing vote and help the ALP

The economy is going relatively well, employment is strong, and the recovery was far better than expected, sure Omicron has hit it again, but that peak has passed.

But SCOMO and the Gov are looking tired, he gets the blame from the States for everything that goes wrong, and just cannot get some traction.

Albo for me just does not have it, I don't know what he stands for, he is from the Labor left but has ditched all the toxic tax policy from the Shorten era, for me that is a positive, but at his core he's a rabid lefty, and I just will not trust him on Tax, Immigration, Defence and importantly on China the ALP is Pro CCP. Then there are all the left wing social identity issues, it will be Andrews style Federal Gov. Anti Tradition and pro Woke.

I will vote Libs in Lower house buy will probably go go for WA Party in Senate for a change.

But I do feel a bit more comfortable about a change to ALP than when Shorten was pushing his toxic tax policy.

Dealing with the Global Covid Pandemic makes the GFC look like a walk in the park, not even close, and Australia sailed through the GFC thanks to massive commodity demand from China, not much to do with Rudd.

Yes you've summed it up nicely Bazz. I'm not overly concerned with the federal outcome as both sides are devoid of talent but are so closely aligned in most things including policy, don't think it's going to make a whole lot of difference to be honest. My far greater concern is at state level. McGowan is a danger to the state but with little or no opposition, he could do some real damage over the next 3.5 years with no prospect of getting him out unless he commits a huge faux pas which isn't beyond the realms of possibility given his recent handling of Covid. Fortunately the tide of public opinion is turning against him so time will tell I guess.

We are stuck with State Labor for a while yet. And with the massive majority they have it will take two elections to get the Libs back into power, one to get some numbers back and the second to win. They need to get some talent back into the State party, its a joke at the moment.

My feeling is McClown will bail about a year out of the next election and head to Rio or Woodside, he will have a job lined up already.

That leaves time for Cook to tidy his image up and lead them to the next term which won't be that hard. Either that or McGowan leads them in and then hands over shortly after. Either way he wont do 3 terms as Premier, he is one of the last State MPs with the massive parliamentary pension so will be raking it in on exit.

Interesting reading that Julian Grylls gave Whyatt a armchair ride into a MP spot.
