Interesting the latest revelation by ASIO that Chinese interests were bankrolling some potential NSW Labor candidates for the upcoming federal election as they were sympathetic to the Chinese cause. According to Albo none were pre-selected but it does make you think about how much influence foreign countries have in our democratic elections. If the Russians can interfere with recent US presidential elections then it wouldn't come as a surprise if the Chinese are able to play in our space.

Which would be greater and the most dangerous - government or religious interference - one is seen as a threat whilst the others is more insidious and acceptable by many.

The latter is scary due to its patina of acceptability

i've got a feeling Dutton is going to make a last minute crack at SCOMO and try and salvage the train wreck...

He will do well in Queensland and maybe Western Sydney might even snatch victory from the jaws of defeat....

I have no doubt at all that the CCP has deep infiltration into the ALP and beyond..

I am also pretty confident that the huge number of mainland chinese coming here are not altogether loyal to Australia and there would be a big number allocated to certain electorates to vote for pro Beijing canditates, anyone who thinks this isnt happening have heads in the sand.

The predictable personal attacks have started and will ramp up with Morrison looking to attack anyone on the left with accusations of alignment with China.

Seems to be a common tactic everywhere when you can not argue facts and with a level of plausibility then go for the person, oh well the left will just attack links to the big side of sydney and melbourne.

Yes Grump it's shaping up to be a very dirty campaign, neither side can claim to be clean skins when it comes to playing dirty politics, but I think Albo needs to make himself as small a target as possible given the polls are looking to be well in his favour. You know Scomo is on the nose when someone like Albo is the preferred leader. Lord save us from mediocre politicians.

Looking like a Trump v Biden.
Neither are worthy but one of them has to win.   I dont think there has been a prime minister we could be proud of since Howard.

Morrison has done a pretty good job apart from the Jobkeeper rorting companies were allowed to claim without having to justify it and pay it back. That for me is a deal breaker and lately he’s showing his desperation trying to rush anti religious discrimination laws through which shows he knows he’s out the door come May. His ukulele abortion of April Sun in Cuba was his jumping the shark moment.

Scott and Jenny can safely book their next holiday to Hawaii. Brace yourselves for a couple of terms of Labor. We can only pray they win with a clear majority and don’t have to jump into bed with the Greens.

I think you are right DD I reckon SCO MO is cooked, probably too late to change leaders, but they need to save some furniture so they are in the hunt in 3 years time, might role him at last minute.

To be honest both parties are so closely aligned in policies and practice at federal level, I don't think it matters that much who is in. My main concern is the instability of changing PM's every couple of years as by my calculation since Howard in 2007, we've had Rudd - Gillard - Rudd - Abbott - Turnbull - ScoMo and now potentially Albo. We're starting to look like Italy and the way they change at the drop of a hat.
