Virtually all of last years Colts are still here bar the likes of Cameron & Edwards who were drafted, probably only a handful or half a dozen of the 2014/15 Colts boys still at the club now.

Therein lies the problem with a "develop the kids" policy. It assumes that a majority of the colts are going to hang around and that most of them are capable of playing at WAFL league which is clearly not the case. A youth policy needs to be in conjunction with a targeted recruitment strategy for experienced players who are of good character and have the ability to teach the young guys the right way of going about things on and off the field.

Therein lies the problem.
You have to have a recruiter who understands what good character means.

Imagine if swans brought in someone like Monaghan who could have brought the solid league footballers with good character in like Manning as he did for the sharks.

By making a call soon the club can target someone strong with current connections in the player market.

The lawn mower mans connections are dead after a decade sitting in an office at steel blue.

New coach and football manager is far more important than what happens at board level as mentioned by BH players don’t care about the board level rumblings. Although if the board is in bed with the staff and can’t make strong decisions then it effects the players.

Ash Hansen & Scott Cummings were looking out for Expat WA players in Vic whether they be past Swans or others, that wanted to return home.
Not sure if that is still the case.

I always thought the only Lawnmower Man from Basso was Micky Grasso (Trevor Jenkins used to call him that on the ABC) as he used to mow through opponents on his many dashes down the ground!

With Ammos ‘officially’ allowed to pay players from next season it might be increasingly difficult to recruit established players as the prestige of playing WAFL footy just isnt there anymore with this and future generations
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!
