When I saw the score I thought it must have been the women's game. 11 goals on a day like today is hard to believe.

I can understand the disappointment expressed, but let's look at the positives from today's game. Second gamer Seb Bright's game was outstanding, especially his performance in the first half, while Smith also impressed. In addition, the back six's combined game had EF heading toward their lowest score against SD for 85 years half way through the last quarter.

Negatives are our lack of drive from the ruck, but that's been the problem all season. It is interesting that the ten odd minutes today that Swans were on top corresponded with Riggio and Hampson getting their hands on the ball first from the ruck - we kicked two during that period and got within a kick of the lead. We really need a quality ruckman - and no offence meant to Blakely, but I hope the coach gives Doc. an opportunity in the forward line.

Despite having a chance at 3/4 time another of the team's bugbears this season rose - we ran out of legs.

No positives today, a top A Grade ammos side would have beaten both clubs, worst game standard wise I’ve seen. Swans are going backwards
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

If you think the last few weeks have been bad, get ready for the games after the bye, South Fremantle at Freo, West Coast at home, Subiaco at Leederville, Peel at Bassendean and Claremont at Claremont. Things could get very very ugly. The playing group must show something to members and supporters that demonstrate there is some hope for the future. The brand of footy Swans play is so boring to watch, all about damage control, too much AFL game plan rubbish cramming up their heads. They are not fit enough to implement this plan anyway. Thats probably why they consistently run out of gas late in the game. Let the young guys go out and enjoy themselves and try and kick a score. Station some key forwards in the 50 and back the midfield to get the ball to Kohlmann and Noble. They are going to get beaten anyway, why not implement a more attacking mindset.

Considering CBC are full of ex EF and SF reserves guys or retired 30 + aged ex league boys in Anthony and Young, not sure the validity of your statement their SD......yeah sounded like the game was as dire as the scoreboard....and both sides have a long way to go.....pretty sure in terms of inexperience, both EF and SD are top two in the WAFL comp......tho can see why there is a black cloud hanging over Steel Blue....to lose to EF twice in a season and been clean sweeped by the worst club in the WAFL over the last 2-3 years....definitely is tough at the bottom that is for sure.

In 40 years of playing and watching footy I dont think I have ever seen a worse game than yesterdays especially considering the conditions were perfect for football.
The skill level was appalling and probably at C4 Grade Amateur level, the mistakes were comical, the decision making almost non existent.
Like Mike posted it is time for the coach to throw whatever gameplan he is trying to implement out the broken coaches box window at EF (dont get me started on their non existent timeclock) and just let the players play for the rest of the season, you cant expect supporters to continue to pay $15 each week to watch the rubbish of tallies of 3 goals most weeks, how about trying to be entertaining for once and try and hit the scoreboard not literally with that wide indirect footy we serve up.
I for one have completely lost faith in our football department and some of their decisions over this decade have mirrored the calamitous efforts of our League team, hmm just maybe that is why we are where we are at....the absolute laughing stock of the WAFL at present!

mikeh wrote: Just for the hell of it I checked the team lists from the last 3 years 2016 -2019 and came up with the following list of players who suited up for the league team at some stage over this period and are now no longer with the club. 1. Nelson Ansey
2.Jacob Burnham
3. Ricky Cary
4. Freddie Clutterbuck
5. Jacob Coniglio
6. Chad Daniels
7. Aaron Elari

Thats a lot of turnover in 3 years. Of course we have also lost club stalwarts like Ames, Ugle, Banfield, Blight and Simpson. It could be argued that some of the list above were just not up to league footy but surely not all as some of them like Rudy have gone to other clubs and succeeded.I doubt if any other club is losing players at the level that Swans are. No wonder we are struggling.

I have put together a list of all the players from SD (or from our zone) who we have let go to other clubs during this decade below.
You wonder if those still playing in the WAFL would be handy for the current bottom of the ladder SD.
I have only really included the current players and or those who had an impact after leaving SD-

CL- Zac Langdon (Dampier/Guildford Grammar) now at GWS
EF- Sean Fletcher, Blaine Boekhorst, Harry Creasey
EP- Jayden Magro, Mahli King
PE- Brent Latch, Jacob Coniglio, Michael Bennell, Guy Langdon, Brett Wolfenden
PT- Brayden Lawler, Ryan Bennell, Marlon Motlop
SF- Josh Pullman, Marlion Pickett
SU- Wade Twomey, Brett Robinson, Ray Daniels, Dylan Nelson,
WP- Marcus Adams, (now at Bris via Foots), Rudy Riddoch, Steve Potente, Troy Yukich,
WCER- Andrew Fisher

Mike I posted the above on another topic last week, these are the former SD players who have left SD this decade to go to other WAFL clubs..
I think our FD have a lot to answer for as to where our playing stocks are currently at as they have let the above leave and recruited no one of note from outside our own zone other than Hampson, and some of their choices for players & coaches have been horrendous remember Xavier Ellis & Crowley of what use were they?

For that many players to leave, there must be some sort of cultural issue at the club I reckon. I get the sense that not everybody at the club is working from the same mission statement. It looks like there are undercurrents of discontent some of which have been reflected on this site. Every organisation has power struggles and I sense something is not quite right off field but I can't put my finger on what is happening because I just pay my membership and rock up to games. It just doesnt feel like the same SDFC that I started supporting 50 years ago and have stuck with them through worse seasons than the current one.

Yeah there is obviously certain elements who are disgruntled ex board members trying to make their point in which they are entitled too but it hardly does much for club stability.
To be honest players themselves couldnt give a rats rectum what happens at board level.
The real concern for me who watches all 3 grades is the lack of development from Colts to League level, I have seen some talented boys at junior level who seem stifled and struggle when they reach seniors- skills go backwards, strength and conditioning average, decision making not up to speed etc etc.
Plus the amount of SD talent we have let go to other WAFL clubs just is not good enough especially if you do not have better replacements ready to step in to take their place.
Just poor form all round by our football department and questions need to be seriously asked by those in charge what is going on in there?!

BH, I think Michael Bennell was originally from Albany and started off at Claremont colts then drifted away and had a crack at SD a couple of years later but only played a handful of reserves. You can add David Johnston and Nelson Ansey to the Perth list though.
Get on your bike.
It was Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.
