Yeh that board is an absolute disgrace and you would reckon the two tennents who are flush with cash would be able to fund something better like the scoreboard at Basso which is the best in the comp by a mile!

Totally agree SD the scoreboard is rubbish. I contacted the club (subi) and asked why it was so small even after it was enlarged 50% last season and they said its out of their hands as all the infrastructure besides the 2 clubroons is owned by the Vinnie council and they gave the final say. Must say though that i gave no troubke seeing it from the subi members area of the grandstand but forget about it if your sitting on tbe outer wing.

Are you talking about the bigger one that has been there for many years or the temporary one in front of it SS? The bigger one whilst not great was adequate but was not operating today. You would need to have a space telescope to read the time clock from the other side of the ground on this smaller board.

Well done to Swans in all four matches, No 7 in the 16's is a bit special

SS there was a temporary mobile scoreboard in front of the usual one that you could not see the time clock on unless you were 5m away.
Other than the fact it was showing the score it was as useless as an ashtray on a motorbike as you could not see the time even with the use of the Hubble Telescope!
It was on the back of a trailer then as soon as the Colts final siren blew last night 2 seconds later a bloke in a van reversed up, hitched it up and towed it away.

And then X went on to coach the Colts to a win afterwards DW but only after he passed the concussion test of course! ;)
I agree wholeheartedly on the above Kirky has been instrumental in all 3 wins but he did some very important work yesterday in tight spots where a little hand or intercept saved the day.

I didn't wanna speculate with mikeh votes on the voting thread as this is SD talk whereas that is for votes so will do so here. Happy with your votes mikeh as it was clearly a team effort that got us across the line yesterday. Just wanted to discuss how I saw the match. One thing I will say is I thought EP played it well most of the day considering they hardly know each other on the footy field and probably only lost the match through a combination of a little last qtr lack of intent self preservation (ie zero care factor for the jumper) and secondly underestimating the fighting black & white spirit that lives within our guys who clearly are showing this year last year's disappointments have left a sting. You don't win like we did yesterday without having pride in yourself and your jumper, super effort to win from where we were at late in the game.

Ok, back to the best players on the day

I actually thought Kirk Ugle was by far our best yesterday despite a low stat count, his ability to disrupt EP forward attacks was so crucial in the eventual wash up. Taryce with 4 goals up forward was the reason we scored enough to win as EP's AFL defence had our measure for most of the day. Noble was also crucial as hit up forward who could actually win the ball or lock it down...exceptional game from him despite not hitting the scoreboard hard...Gault was solid around the ground again and is improving each week ...Bennell in defence early kept us in it and that mark over his old team mate is one of the best I've ever seen then to go back and slot the goal from 50 gave us the energy to go on and win it. Ellard worked his butt off again in close 9 tackles laid on the day. Faulkner was great around the ruckmen's feet as always. His ability to get the ball from hands around the rucks is uncanny and should never be underestimated, it's his best quality as a footballer. Riggs was slightly down on his usual high possession count but I thought when it really mattered in the last 10mins with the game there to be won he was brilliant, rose in intensity and was the one who led our pack to victory. Inspirational stuff. The others deserving of high praise to me were Banfield, Blight, Notte, Howard & Watson...I will mention Yukich as I thought his efforts in the ruck were fantastic around the ground...if he can find a way to impact the game in other ways besides the tap work he can be a regular league footballer. At this stage he will be important through the winter months thru the slog as a tap ruckman but we need more from him around the ground to provide some links forward. Gone are the days when a ruckman's only job is the tap out. Hope Troy gets there becuz I know he works extremely hard at his game. The rest of the team also played a significant part....there was a lot of tactical stuff thrown at us yesterday and roles needed to be played....well done to all 22 players who donned the jumper. Word is Tallen was heaving his guts up throughout the half time break hence his late start to the second half whilst ex AFL man the big X showed a ton of heart to play the game out after a heavy knock to the jaw and an ugly cut to the neck...take note fellow members and supporters if you weren't aware he had every right not to go back out there but he did, courageous stuff which has earned my respect as should it all of our respects.

And just for laughs I'm gonna out Jake Nuich here....that junk food you were tucking in to during the match yesterday was surely not part of the program diet :P :P :P[/quote]

Re the colts BH did you watch the whole match? Detailed Match report perhaps??
I saw the first half then took the missus for dinner returning only to catch the last 10 mins...couple of guys that impressed me some yesterday were #12 who was solid #15 Cameron was noticeable simply because he was prepared to look long with ball in hand and attack with his kicks, #7 can really play and one thing I liked about his game was he was ropable every time he was on the interchange and his opponents in the middle were getting a kick with him off the ground, not always a great quality to be swearing under your breath at being benched simply for rest and recuperation but I for one appreciate it...I hated being on the bench as a footballer and felt it had a negative impact on my influence in a match, nothing wrong with being pissed off you ain't out on the ground, shows it matters...#1 showed some good quality again and in that last 10mins with the game to be won Huntley led the team to victory, he was everywhere...#34 also continues to impress, needs to get more if it but what he generally does is very effective, one il be watching closely this season....apologies to any I may have missed, missus had me distracted through out the game laughing at some cheeky little rascal chubby kids for much of the first half who were part of Joey Hinders personal fan club...little terrors them 2, had me in stitches

Good point DW about Ugle, like Banfield he does a lot of stuff to disrupt the opposition that probably goes under the radar a bit. Wouldn't agree that he was best but in hindsight I should have put him in the top 8. Really tough to single people out because it was a team effort and everyone contributed.

Not much more to add mate you pretty much nailed it despite the mid match absence.
Yes Jumping Jack In The Box Joey has quite the cult following as does the big ginger #38 for EP who it must be said has to be the most appropriately named player of all time! ;)
