LOL...yeah too true BH.....but then again perhaps Stavros maybe keeping a low profile and keeping schtum.....waiting patiently for the inevitable to happen.....I have no doubt Stavros is enjoying every moment working his magic with some of the reputed best youngsters in the land.....it is plain for all to see with SD current ladder position and win / loss record so far in 2016.. :P

On a serious note though...reckon SD will win by 5 goals on Sat......and by 10 goals if Clancee doesnt don the Thunder jumper ;)

Great to see the long stranding sponsorship with Steel Blue to continue for another 2 years making it 15 years now of naming rights of the home of football- Steel Blue Bassendean Oval.

Amazing when you look at the last time these two teams met in round 3. There are 13 Fremantle players who ran out on the ground that day who won't be there on Saturday either through injury or promotion to the Dockers team. Only 8 of the round 3 team have been named for this game, all of them Peel players. There are only 3 Dockers players in the Peel team at this stage, Pearce, Deluca and Yarran. Whether or not the 2 emergencies get back to play would depend on Fremantle's travel schedule.

In contrast 17 of Swans round 3 team have been named in their 25 man squad for Saturday. Of the 5 that are not in the team, Blight is out for the season, Elari has left the club and Nuich is making a comeback via the reserves (great to see him back by the way), Whitsted and Witjk are also named in the ressies.

Whichever way you look at it, this is a massive opportunity for Swans to win their second game of the season. This Peel team is the weakest it has been all year, they have only had a 6 day break after a wet weather slog against the dogs, whereas we have had a two week break. The only advantage they have is that they are playing on their home paddock and they are used to winning there.

Having seen Swans play at their worst this year I am still very cautious about their chances in this game. I still wonder if they have the belief to win at the moment to be honest. I thought they were a red hot chance to beat Perth a few weeks back but they were nowhere near it. They must score more goals, an obvious statement I know, but too much of their footy this year has been defensive minded and almost trying to minimise the damage. Maybe if the boys can take a more attacking approach this week with a few more forward options we may be able to stretch their defence a bit.

Would have to be the longest ground naming rights deal in the country I reckon!
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

mikeh I think there may be some cause for optimism for tomorrow's game. Firstly, as you pointed out the difference between the number of Freo players that played in the previous clash and the likely number for this game. Secondly, with a two week freshen up, it might be akin to the first game of the season feeling, and finally, and most importantly, the boys should be buoyant with the return of Jake in the ressies tomorrow.

What a bloody shame it isn't at Basso this week when you look at the almost-reserves side named by Mandurah :cheer: oh how good it will be if Swans can muster an upset in this one , few nice ins , nothing to lose , every chance of farking them up

I wouldnt be getting too confident fellow Swans supporters FART will have the 3 emergencies fly back tonight to play tomorrow which include AFL 100 gamers Ibbotson & C.Pearce plus the highly rated Langdon.
How many 100 AFL gamers will we have playing tomorrow?

Not sure they would be coming back tonight BH, by the time the game finishes and they could get to the airport it would be close to midnight. Don't think there's any flights coming back to Perth in the early hours, they go the other way of course. It would then depend on how early they can get out of Melbourne on Saturday morning. If there was a flight at 9am Melbourne time it would arrive back in Perth at 11am then they have to get to Mandurah which would be an hours drive from the airport. A big ask I reckon and they may be a bit leg weary too ( with any luck!). I just had a thought though while I was writing that they may be on their way back already when it was established that they weren't going to be needed......so in which case they would probably be back in time for a good nights sleep :S
