in a strange way DW it was great to see such a fantastic SD team deliver such a quarter TBH...whilst I was gutted at 1/4 time, good to see EF show some fight and heart and return the favour to SD in the 2nd quarter with a 9 goal effort....but always chasing shadows after that....great team that SD side in the 80's to watch....more disappointed with the 86 loss to Subi TBH....fark that 2nd semi final win over Subi definitely was EF GF that's for sure

My biggest memory of the East freo team of that era was my fear of Darren Bennett getting the footy. As a kid felt like the bloke could kick 80 - 100metres even if 60-65m was the actual distance. What we'd give at SD right now for a bloke that could kick 65m+ at the goal so we could avoid the decision making required to move the ball inside 50

Percy loves all big blokes Freeze. :)

I was at that 2nd Semi Final EF vs $ubi back in 86 with my dad as a neutral and remember Darren Bennett kicking 10 snags some from well behind the 50m arc that day, Warren Dean from $ubi was another loooong kick of the footy back then.

Jealous Southy....I just missed that era although was listening on the radio from about 6 years of age. What I'd have given to see Phil Narkle and Maurice in their prime

Yep just loved those days, bottom of the ladder, struggling for wins, top teams with cash poaching our best, Randall, Kenny Marshall et al, hell we can't even crack a mention in Southerners signatures list! Ah them were the days ;)

If your Head Office hadn't been so drastically incompetent to the point where you were 2 years past insolvent you wouldn't have had to sell those players you mentioned & that my friend is fact

Sounds like what recently happened to Swan Districts

TOSG what you have just alleged is that the likes of Paul Douglas and others have broken the law. You had better have the facts to back that up and I would suspect that the current owner of this site would be well advised to ensure that you either have the facts to back that up or retract unreservedly with a great deal of haste.

Rudy is on the bench, hopefully he gets a start. Another couple of new guys in Hodge and Erceg. Ames is a loss though. Souths look far too powerful and only the expected wet weather will prevent the margin from being 10+ goals

If the wind on the coast right now is any indication of what the weather is gonna be like tomorrow I'm predicted the worse crowd of the season for a SD match. Will be surprised if our blokes turn up to play in what is likely to be atrocious conditions. One thing is for sure I highly doubt Harding will be coaching from the bench tomorrow considering his contract extension earlier in the week. Why would ya
