I am in complete shock after witnessing that game. The last time I saw Swans play was the inspiring win over Claremont in Round 22 in August 2015 and this was a bit different you might say.

Firstly I want to give credit where it is due and say well done to Souths. They played the conditions brilliantly and were so much harder at the ball than Swans. They did get a number of free kicks in front of goal but they deserved every one of them in my eyes because they put their heads over the ball and were more often than not first to the ball so in those conditions you get the benefit of these free kicks.

Despite the excellent play of the opposition I kept waiting for Swans to at least challenge them and make a game of it. The result of 2 goals 6 was embarrassing to be honest. With a few notable exceptions, the lack of effort and intensity by the players was obvious. There seemed to be no energy and life around the group during the breaks. There was no system or team work, they were really just trying to hold Souths out but they couldn’t get any forward line pressure going at all for the whole day, therefore the low score. The Bulldogs forwards made a contest when they had a chance and eventually they scored through the sheer weight of opportunity.

The skills difference between the teams was obvious, there were a lot of our guys running up and down on the spot in the last quarter. Rudy unfortunately was the most glaring example and he needs several weeks in the reserves to get some match fitness. In some ways it was lucky that the day was wet because I feel it could have been a 100 point belting on a fine day.

Even more disgraceful than the on field performance was that excuse for a scoreboard that was served up. Where is our beautiful heritage board and is it coming back or do we have to put up with that small and useless scoreboard for the whole year??? Also as a member I am entitled to have a scoreboard I can read and also a time clock which has also conveniently disappeared for no apparent reason. Its time for the club to come clean and be honest with its members about what is happening here, I have not received any information from the club about these issues to my knowledge.

Very depressing day……..

It's now panic stations!

We will without a doubt be finishing last this season!

There is something not quite right around the club and I could feel it leading into the season. Our older players seem past their best and our youngsters aren't up to it.

Going to be a long year!

Swans lowest EVER score - beating 2.8 (20) set back in 1968.

My software tipped Swans by 20, yet didn't ever score that many

SWANS LOWEST SCORES

This is part of the Bassendean Oval redevelopment, the council voted to pull the old scoreboard down on the pretext that it was unsafe. However they said it would be replaced. What I want to know is how long is that temporary "scoreboard" going to be there?

1968 was the first year I supported Swans as a 10 year old and they finished last with only 1 win for the season ( and that was by a goal kicked after the siren!)
The omens for this year are not looking great.

The absence of the scoreboard is one thing, the absence of Murray Newman is another.

I believe we will see the scoreboard in the next 3-4 weeks,it's quite a big job. Not sure how long it will be until we see Newman if ever!

Hang in there lads - I had no real confidence we'd get up & true to your guys character the scoreboard wasn't all that shocking

To get some good game time into the young blokes will become gold in time & others finding some touch will help greatly

All it takes is a win or two to get some momentum

Cheers - it's always a tough affair at Basso & today looks like it was no different
