Congrats on the win today fellas, seems like a close fought affair most of the day......much needed 4 points for SD too. In all honesty are SD and EF technically fighting for 7/8th spots, especially with Cl ramping up the wins.....I know both clubs can still push for finals but I really thought SD would win this game easily considering EF losing Hampson up front and Stephen up back.....how did the debutants go for both teams?

I wouldn't use injuries as any excuse as we had a few out the equal of or better than your outs in Simpson, Geappen and Blight et al just to name 3

Hard to say at the moment who is in the running for finals because a couple of wins in a row could put a team up to 2nd whereas consecutive losses could see you 8th as the Sharks have found out.

I think this is going to be a fascinating 2nd half of the season where wins against Subiaco will be just about worth 8 points as they are so obviously the unbackable premiership favorites and there will be crucial games every week between the 7 other aspirants. Also Perth could throw a spanner in the works of teams fighting for top 5 positions, so everyone needs to be careful when playing them ( starting with Swans this week  )

Today was a gusty win by the boys, they were motivated and hard at it all day and their tackling was fantastic. They just spoiled their endeavors a bit by poor kicking particularly in the 3rd when they just bombed the ball up forward and made it easy for the EF defenders to repel. Luckily they were a lot more precise in the last quarter and Jukes was a real game breaker up forward, he was often able to create goals from nothing for himself or others, great game by him against his old team.
Faulkner, Elari and Riggio were prolific as usual and it was a good battle in the midfield against Mcnamara, Mcgough, Anthony and ROB. Each team had momentum at different times of the match and it was quite an interesting game to watch.

Davis lifted in the 2nd half and showed real leadership. Notte was his usual solid self in his 150th and it was fantastic that the boys were able to get over the line for him. Banfield is still getting into form but he is very handy running around in the forward line as he chased and hassled and scored a couple of opportune goals. Matty Rogers contributed all day.

I thought Nathan Blakely did a heap around the ground and was the most effective big man on either team, even though Young did kick 3 goals when he was resting forward. I really like Blakelys 2nd and 3rd efforts when the ball is on the ground. Houghton really played well and his goal on the run was one of the highlights of the day. The defence worked well as a unit although Ames made a few uncharacteristic blunders with his kicking which surprised me. Our debutant Alby Dean looked OK but obviously will need a few games to get used to the step up in pace from the ressies.

Overall I went home very happy with the guys efforts and to make it better the reserves won comfortably with Dylan Nelson kicking 8 and Rudy 3. They and others would be pushing for selection this week so we are in a good spot at the moment.

I thought the game never reached any great heights and we nearly threw it away with our poor kicking.
In the 1st qtr we tried to hit 50/50's 20m away instead of getting it deep and it allowed EF to counter through the middle. In the past we tried to switch a couple of times and twice turned it over which resulted in goals. I'd like to know how many goals they got from turnovers because I'd say it'd be 5-6 which is not good on any day let alone a low scoring contest.
Alby Dean wasn't bad but like I've said before I just don't think we can have these smaller guys like him, whitsed and McKay in the same team as Faulkner. Alby is unfortunately not very fleet of foot.
Slater will be under pressure to keep his spot imo.
Jukes the clear standout for me,his contested marking was consistently brilliant! Howard also good again.
Huuuuuge game coming up against Perth. They lost by 40 odd today but had some important players in form and we know what happened only a few weeks ago.
Probably don't deserve to play finals if we drop a game to them.

What was that you wrote last week about making excuses after a loss again freeze!!
The self proclaimed "best midfield outside the AFL" rolled by the Swans battlers!

Alby may not have quick leg speed MD but he does have very quick hands in heavy traffic! Alby's debut makes it 13 debutants already for the club this year at the half way point of the season.

Mike happy to come away from that place with the 4 points at that pathetic excuse for a football ground but something needs to be said about the state of the joint.
How disgraceful to arrive for the Colts and they had not even cleaned out the Merv Cowan stand toilets since the Derby I attended there a fortnight ago!
The sooner that joint is bulldozed the bloody better!
