My reply to this topic is purely from the respect side of the fence - for both sides and players
It is my belief that one of the influences the game of footy has been by its 'rotation systems'.
Simply having fresher players on the field can have the effect of increased impact situations, faster/heavier hits, more kinetic energy applied to every bumps etc

I personally have no issue with this as I have always liked the fierce nature of the our game.
This is a contact sport and I take um-bridge at those inconsistencies in adjudication & reports & umpires who continually confuse the lines of rulings bring it all to a state of confusion and inadequacy
No - I didn't see this game and this incident, but I feel in reading the posts here its a debatable suspension offence - even if excessive in application or force applied.
I think my intent to comment came from the desire of Cary to seek out the player he had handled excessively - Read - and apologies face to face

From what I have read, not with the intention of reducing a possible suspension but with what I would believe was the intention to state their was 'no malice' but rather just a moment of 'over enthusiasm' that Cary came to regret or think better of, if indeed injury had occurred he would have also been able to see and know that 'one on one'

Congrats to the boy for the MAN-UP manner he took to meet with his apposing player afterwards ... says a lot about his character, his family and his club...

Just an opinion.............

Oh and by the way - I am looking forward to the week to come and our game against the Ducks - Of all teams , Love playing them and the banter at Steel Blue, the supporters furious and enthusiastic support cant be matched elsewhere
I hope that afterward its a WIN for us .... but so long as its a good game is really what I hope for.

Good point about the respective Colts sides Freeze maybe we should promote eligible boys Ridley & Nelson up to the Colts from the League squad on our next encounter to restore order! ;)

You know full well Freeze that the Colts abilities changes year to year to squad changes due to age eligibility ..hmmm I seem to remember a quip from you about how poor Swans were in 2013 a flag a year later & an unbeaten start to this year and 9 players chosen in the WA 18's would suggest things can turn around pretty quickly! Custodian wrote: A body slam is hardly putting a player to the ground! It was excessive! To Cary"s credit he sought out Sam Read after the game and apologised.

Custondian it only occurred after he had done a 720 in the tackle. What was Cary supposed to do? Have a minute waltz with the East Freo player?

MD I hope you have no problems with the report of Cary.

I don't think it was a reportable offence but I don't really have an issue with them taking a look at it. At the end of the day it will the tribunal who determines wether guilty or not,not the reporting umpire.
The vision will show it wasn't a slinging or spear tackle. I thought he got him at a good angle and pinned his arms. More unfortunate than anything. A bit like the Bartel one. There was a bit of a scuffle once the east boys realised he was a bit worse for wear but it was malicious then I'm sure they would've got a bit more worked up.
All that being said,if he is somehow found guilty I'd expect that he would get 3-4 weeks.

If Cary gets 3-4 weeks then the umpire should get 30-40 weeks. The umpire is RESPOSNIBLE 100% for what happened subsequent to the 720.

Growler.....Cary manned up for doing what?....Swan Dog says he didn't do anything....42 says its the umps fault.....the kid wasn't overzealous or over enthusiatic as you say.....yet he apologizes to Read?....think some of the SD fans need to take your man up advice and say the kid was an idiot for doing what he did.....but hey it's footy, good to see Read didn't have a serious injury from his barnyard waltz with his cumbersome two left feet partner....be interested to see the reaction when a SD player gets a similiar tackle....anyway Cary didn't do any thing wrong.....good to see a team getting just rewards for kicking straight for once.....

Think you are being a little mischievous there Freezin, sometimes things happen in footy games where a player might get hurt by being bumped or tackled legally but the perpetrator might still show some concern for the victim even though they may not necessarily have done anything wrong. I don't think approaching an opposition player after a game is an admission that Cary did something outside the laws of the game but more to do with an apology on the impact that the action had on Read. I guess the tribunal will have the final word on whether it was outside the rules.

How can a colts team go backwards from one year to the next ?
It's age group footy and as such every club has a different side each year.
Some years strong, other years not strong

BH you know that won't happen, because then you guys haven't got an excuse to fall back on to for when you get beaten then ;) .....the mantra of the "the team is so inexperienced" is a good solid dependable line I reckon........anyway by the time the likes of Ridley et al are experienced.... you boys are bleating on how it's so unfair they are playing for Peel and EP!!....

You guys promote your kids better than any other club in the WAFL....yep we get it, just if you want to wear that title, then just don't use it as an excuse when you lose.....I'm pretty sure Harding doesn't....he picks those kids because they are old enough and good enough to do the job....
