Yes that is Swans policy and I think it benefits Swans if they are good enough. But I don't think it helps the young guys putting too many miles on the clock, I will sight Coniglio as an example of this. I think reward your guys in the reserves slogging it out rather than ruin a young stars body. That what I hate about the alignment those marginal guys don't get league football, they go elsewhere they probably still play reserves they can't win.

Off topic a tad here but will Connor Blakely play in the colts grand final? Aiden Anderson I think had his1st colts game of the season last Saturday.

Not just Swans, Subi played a state 18 in league most of the year and Perth, South and Peel did also.

Blakely and Anderson don't qualify for colts gf

Every club does it but that doesn't make it right or wrong, also parents permission is sought. These kids have extra load through the carnival it all adds up. I have noticed more AFL players retiring in their twenties because their bodies have had it, is it any surprise.

Just on that point MO the whole premise of this alignment shit was to develop the Eagles youngsters together so as they are all coached the same way by the same people etc. Why on earth would the EP Eagles then drop blokes back like Butler, Hill, McGinnity, Smith, Brennan et al who are 25yo+ and have been in the system for at least 7 years or in Butler's case 11. If they havent been "developed" by now they never will be.

MD I suspect that neither will play because they won't have played enough colts' games to qualify. Anderson could play colts last Sunday, I believe, because we had our league team in the finals.

John Todd that is the worst example you could think of sixty years ago for starters and a player with a very short career. I'm starting to worry about you mate to be honest. I agree these guys are not playing finals to develop they want to win. I believe McGovern and Lycett tried to talk the Eagles into letting them play. Imagine how lop sided it would be then.

Wtf! So if a colts-age player is good enough to play league all year he can't drop back to colts during finals? What kind of a crock of s**t rule is that!!??

Yeah, find that ridiculous as well Goodie, would have thought the AFL scouts would like to see potential draftees playing in the pressure games at seasons end although doubt It will effect Connors chances of being drafted....he'll go reasonably early by all reports, god help us it's not West Coast even though Dad might like that scenario
