When your number 8 batsman makes 93 and the top 4 make 7 between them there is something radically wrong in the team.
With his latest duck Bancrofts Shield average for the season now drops to around 12. Surely he cannot play in the last 2 games on that record even if they somehow manage to pull off an improbable victory today?

Agree Mikeh, cant keep carrying players who are not producing consistently. Tassie now 3-88 after 27 overs so a win for us looking unlikely anyway!

the trouble is with the onset of 'professionalism' players seem to be picked because they have contracts. We should not forget too, that tasmania is at the bottom of the shield table.

Gee Mike if only the WA top 4 scored 7 runs between them-

1. Bancroft- 0
2. Carder- 0
3. S.Marsh- 0
4. Whiteman- 4

The only WA players who deserve their match payments are- Green, Phillipe, Paris.

how is Whiteman in the team? Have a look at his last 15 innings in the shield or for the 2xi, he has passed 50 on just one occasion.

AR you could say the same of Whiteman, Bancroft, Moody, Mackin...I will give Carder & Hardie the benefit of being rookies.
As I posted a week or so back the WACA CEO will still call this pathetic fadeout of a season a success as we won a twobit ODD comp no one gives a rats about and the girls won their equivalent.
22 years without a Shield title is a bloody disgrace for our once proud cricket culture that has been left in tatters by these blow in bosses from over East & Overseas!

Secured him a CA XI appearance a few weeks back tho Ark....not sure who selects any of these teams, but geez they must of had a selection availability shortage that day....quite surprised Tom Beaton wasn't picked....

Apart from the dyfunctional top order, the biggest issue in the Shield team at the moment is the lack of spin bowlers up to first class level. The team has just completed two games on eastern states wickets without a recognised spinner. Unheard of, particularly given the games were in Adelaide and Hobart where the tracks are flat for the fast bowlers. If there is no one playing at grade level who is good enough, Voges needs to look at luring someone over from another state. Mitchell Swepson or Cameron Boyce would be examples of spinners who have shown they are capable of playing first class cricket and may be tempted by the opportunity of being WA's first choice shield spinner. Agar has been groomed as a white ball specialist and is generally ineffective in 4 day cricket.

Amazingly due to other results, WA still have a mathematical chance of qualifying for the final so they may not make too many changes for the game V Queensland at the WACA. If Stoinis is fit he will come in for Whiteman probably.

WA cricket is pretty ordinary at the top level in fact it's dead if selection policies & the results are anything to go by
Staggering that the same spuds are continually picked - and rest assured they will be the same spuds who see WA fail to progress to the final
