STT I think you will find that SA will declare sometime tomorrow and set WA a 350 target in about 70 overs. A draw will not assist either team in terms of giving them a chance of making the final and SA are still in with a faint hope of qualifying but need outright points from this game. With Queensland cantering to victory in their match v Tasmania a result in this fixture is very important for both teams.

Faced with a chase of 5 per over on the last day, you never know if guys like Marsh Stoinis and Phillipe get going, they may be able to do it. A long shot but possible.

Well....so much for that...WA imploded at Adelaide Oval. Marsh getting out first ball didn't help and the rest just rolled over with one or two exceptions.

Limp effort with the exception of Stoinis. SA pretty much dominated from start to finish. Not sure why we put them into bat on Day 1 and things went downhill from there. The Vics beat NSW so they may make a late season run for the final. Only Tassie are really out of it.

nothing ever changes -- GS. Chappell started the silly fad of captains winning the toss and bowlling in Australia. Most people on here won't be suprised by that fact, either. CLive llyodd also did it a bit, interestingly I have never heard ma Holding support it.

The 22 year Sheffield Shield drought continues but you can bet your bottom dollar the WACA CEO will give the season a big tick as we did win a meaningless ODD title and the womens team won their first domestic title for 33 years.

The players no doubt need a kicking but lets not give the coaches and selectors a let off, I mean who goes to the Adelaide Oval without a spinner FFS? we had a bowling attack of 5 medium fast bowlers. What does Hinchliffe have to do to get a game?

Now on to Tassie where you can bet your bottom dollar Bird & co will run through this weak limp batting line up like a hot knife through butter!

Just to confirm what we already knew, The Sheffield Shield is being treated with complete contempt by Cricket Australia. As well as having 15 Australian players in South Africa for a Mickey Mouse series, we hear that there is a "tour match" between the England Lions ( 2nd XI) and Australian XI which will pull out another 12 players from the next round of Shield cricket. What a joke and you wonder why they bother with the Shield competition any more.

How the hell Bancroft is even in the squad of 15 defies logic - that is a Potato and an over cooked one
This mob deserve to be where they are if this is the selection practice

Just to back up your point Southerner, Bancrofts scores in the Sheffield Shield this season have been 30, 0, 10, 6NO, 0, 11, 12, 23, 10, 25 and 19. That's 146 runs at an average of 14.6. In addition he has shown a weakness with short balls down the leg side being caught numerous times at leg gully. Amazing that he is still in the team and they are also talking about a return for 2 other non performing batsmen in Turner and Whiteman. The cupboard must be bare in WA

same brain twitch must be affecting those who selected the CA 11 - how anyone could pick Whiteman is just beyond fathoming really and as an opener
I cannot blame Phillipe for going to NSW looks like he's wasting his time here Short will probably go east soon after
