There's a fair bit of commentary going on at the moment about changing Australia Day to another date as indigenous Australians find it offensive. It seems to come up every year so until the PC brigade get their way, it will continue to divide the community. For mine, I don't really care if it stays as is or gets changed but I'd be interested in the views of others on here.

It should stay as is until the general population have their say.

Easy way is to make it a question on the census paper and the results will give an indication to what the Majority want and not the small but vocal group wants!

Some of the commentary is quite alarming but that is their issue!
We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so stupid people won't be offended

There's a few polls or surveys being quoted around the place which suggests the majority of Australians want it to stay as is...but as we all know you can manipulate a poll to get a certain answer depending on how you frame the question and who you ask.

There is a modern day trend going around.Where people don't accept the umpires decision. Ie an election or a referendum like President Trump or Brexit. People who want to change everything and even the way you live.

It is not that I do or do not want to change the date of Australia Day, but your comparison doesn't fit for mine. The voting public actually voted for or against Trump, same with Brexit. I can't recall a referendum or ballot when I voted that when the date of Australia Day was decided.

I really am sick of how we put up with this crap. The invasion day twits, idiots protesting in restaurants trying to get the world to stop eating meat, the gender argument in schools.....ffs, what’s next? These minority groups want to change the world into their deluded, skewed perfect world. Truth is the dickheads couldn’t change a fukn tyre!!! 26th was the day, is the day and should continue. Let the aboriginals have their day on the 27th - the day when the British started to set up camp. They can have their holiday then

26th January is NSW Day!
Apologies to my indigenous friends but the real Australia Day should be 25th October (1616) the date Dirk Hartog first stepped foot on the best part of the country! ;)

That's the way, was always a bit surprised that so many in the West are so quick to acknowledge that NSW started Australia.

Good point. I could probably agree with you, except Dirk’s discovery was an accident whereas the Poms were deliberate at where they were headed and what their outcome would be. All in the eyes of the believer I suppose. However, even if Oz Day became 25th, we’d still be having the same discussion, just over a different date.
