Swan was just reading in the SA seat of Mayo.Alexander Downer Daughter is trailing in the polls 62 /38 to an independent candidate.

However, it would appear that the Mayo voters recognise Georgina Downer as the Institute of Public Affairs (IPA) apparatchik that she is.

Not winning Mayo will reinforce the likes of Abbott, Kelly et al to white ant Turnbull further.

That will be the Libs script, not regaining Mayo will be a big blow as its heartland and was considered a shoe in. It will be disappointing for them if they don't pick either Braddon or more so Longman. Whatever the results all will put their spin on it to suit themselves. If Labor retain Perth, Fremantle and either Longman or Braddon they will be secretly happy, if they retain all four they will be over the moon. Even more so if the Libs can't get Mayo back.
Libs will be elated with winning any of the five, as they have none to begin with and winning any can be claimed as a victory.

Sorry oooll the Liberals can't win two of them, Fremantle and Perth, because the Liberal Party didn't think enough of or care about the electors of Fremantle and Perth to even field a candidate

Of course you can't. Parachuting G Downer into Mayo was supposedly a laydown misere for the Libs in SA especially in the context of the defence pork barelling that has occurred there.

In the time Longman has been around (1996) it has been held by the conservative side of politics for all bar 2007-10 and 2016-2018.

Braddon in Tasmania where the state and federal electorates have the some boundaries the Liberals int his years state election got something like 53% of the first preferences.

One can only hope that if the Liberals win or one or two it will result in Turnbull calling a general election.

And what's your point? as if none of these factors have ever been at play in the past - never happened in 100 years...and counting...I would expect that trend to continue, if it doesn't Shorten will have made history for all the wrong reasons.
