Grassy maybe if the last US president had taken a harder line then this rogue nation run by a kid wouldn't be as advanced in building its arsenal and acting like a spoiled little shit firing rockets into space to try to intimidate the rest of the world.

For all the criticism the USA cops because it's an easy target bit like tall poppy syndrome, it does not, has not and never ever pose a threat to the well being of other nations or want to invade another nation to take it over. And please don't come on here and start crapping on about Iraq and Afghanistan. Yes it was probably a mistake but as we know those countries were and still are a breeding ground for terrorism, the primary reason why the USA and other nations are there.

DD there were no WMDs; it was a LIE. That was the mistake. With respect to Afghanistan history showed that the US were never going to succeed there and it has proved to be correct. Vilifying a group of people based on their religion was not, is not and never will be the solution to countering terrorism. In fact it does exactly the opposite.

The easiest thing sould be if he attacke Guam then the Americans would be able to let themselves off of their leash. Turnbull has said exactly the right thing.

grassy: I think Guam will be okay which means the Americans will still have their dilemma.

I woul offer him a peace treaty in return for disarmament, a non-agression pact, having the Russians and Chinese sign on as well.

If he refused to accept it and continued to fire his missles I would adopt an economic blockade staregy aimed at Chinese and Russian firms. In addition I would reserve the right to destroy his missles by military means.

one last point: all of this should be passed through the American Congress -- not an easy task paricularly with the right-wingers -- but my strategy is aimed at the same thing: the disarmament of the DRK.

We are now witnessing the product of 8 appaulingly neglegent years under Obama, NK has happily gone along deveopling ICBM , mini Nukes and Subs all unchecked, to make matter worse he did a deal with Iran that will allow them to do the same, a bunch of nutters that openly state they want to wipe an entire country in Israel off the planet. Anyway at this stage I still think we are in the Phoney War stage a lot of big talk , some build up , but not a lot of actual contact. NK has 15 subs that could be anywhere in the world, off LA , off Sydney maybe Freo, all have ICBM, the threats real , I cant see them doing much at all so far , they will be wiped out. Our intel is far better with the US and 5 powers agreement.
China is behind entire thing, they are using NK as a proxy to put pressure on the US for regional dominance.

Also , forget Trump he is not running the show , Mattis and Tillerson are calling the shots on this deal, the Pentagon has command structures in place that Trump will not have anything to do with hands on.

Does China trust that Nut so much,that his ego will not extend to them and he fires a few at them?What does he really care about his own people?

Its not so much trust as control, all NK weapons platforms are controlled by Beijing, they can shut down, jam radars, satellites, ICBM guidance systems. They built and supplied the gear and control if and when its used.
