Of course I am referring to the bloody same sex marriage fiasco and I'm sure I speak for the majority who don't really give a flying f*** what people do as long as it's not effecting them. The opposition want it done with a conscience vote in the parliament and the wankers in government should understand they are elected and paid to get shit like this done.
I am fucking pissed that in this day and age when the whole country is drowning in debt the Prime Minister is prepared to make it a postal vote which has already been challenged in the High Court, at a cost of 122 million. Malcolm Turnbull is prepared to throw money around like its confetti while cracking down on social welfare. And his predessor is carrying on like a Neanderthal trying to push the No vote.
I'm sick of death of our politicians who just blow money like it's going out of fashion and get fuck all done.
You would have a point except for one important fact.
The nation went to the polls with this issue front a n centre and both sides completely clear about what they were offering and what you would get if you voted for them.
Libs a Plebiscite and ALP/ Greens Leave it to 150 Politicians.
People voted a Libs won and are in power so are delivering what they promised.
People moan about politicians not honouring pre election promises, yet when they do people still moan, work that out if you can - but that's what's going on here.
Bazza there are several problems with your comments. The first ignores the fact that there were two houses of parliament that we voted on and most assuredly the number of seats won by the coalition was not a majority. Secondly, you ignore the breathtaking hypocrisy of the coalition: the ALP went to an election in 2007 with an ETS as a major commitment and Abbott et al voted AGAINST the ETS legislation.
Thirdly, I must have missed Abbott's pre-election promise of a $7 co-payment or the massive cuts to education funds. In fact the latter seemed to be diametrically opposite to Abbott's pre-election promise to match the Gonski funding promised by Labor.
Finally, we elect governments to govern; if the coalition don't want to govern, resign and we will have another election.
Did you actually read my comment , as you have totally ignored the whole point.
Government is formed in the lower house - not the upper.
Then went on to moan about Abbott not keeping promises, a point I raised in my point, thus confirming my point.
If Shorten had won then I would of copped a parliamentary vote sweet, but he didn't , so you are goner have to cop a plebiscite sweet.
deal with it.
