Who has had an absolute gut full of our inept Government? It doesn't seem to matter which one is in power they are masters at making something that should be straight forward extremely difficult and a long drawn out process that ends up costing tax payers a bloody fortune.

Of course I am referring to the bloody same sex marriage fiasco and I'm sure I speak for the majority who don't really give a flying f*** what people do as long as it's not effecting them. The opposition want it done with a conscience vote in the parliament and the wankers in government should understand they are elected and paid to get shit like this done.

I am fucking pissed that in this day and age when the whole country is drowning in debt the Prime Minister is prepared to make it a postal vote which has already been challenged in the High Court, at a cost of 122 million. Malcolm Turnbull is prepared to throw money around like its confetti while cracking down on social welfare. And his predessor is carrying on like a Neanderthal trying to push the No vote.

I'm sick of death of our politicians who just blow money like it's going out of fashion and get fuck all done.

DD - It is what you get when someone whom should be in the ALP is the leader of a Tory government.

The simple thing would have been to put the bil to the Senate, dropping the issue if the bill was rejectted by the place. In this way they would have honoured their election promise without spending money.

More to the point what powers are they using to run the plebiscite? They must be resorting to the 'reserve powers' of the Crown, something which is legal but not considerred the 'done thing' since 1689, if not earlier.

If it goes forward, my instinct would be to vote, because if over 50 per cent of the electorate vote and it is a narrow No win, the ALP will be stuck when they win office next. .

You would have a point except for one important fact.

The nation went to the polls with this issue front a n centre and both sides completely clear about what they were offering and what you would get if you voted for them.

Libs a Plebiscite and ALP/ Greens Leave it to 150 Politicians.

People voted a Libs won and are in power so are delivering what they promised.

People moan about politicians not honouring pre election promises, yet when they do people still moan, work that out if you can - but that's what's going on here.

Understand what you are saying DD.
As the government will tell you, don't worry about the taxpayers, they've plenty of money to hand over!

There is no unity over in blundersville from what I can see. The federal government seems to meander from one crisis to the next. They hold a review for this , a review for that and so it goes on and on and on. As you say, nothing gets done.
How many prime ministers have we seen over the past 10 years? Seems to be too much party unrest, with behind the scenes party warfare and dysfunctional policies.
And if we become a republic, it will only get worse,

gtr: yes it is one of my great regrets about the ALP, I am afraid; that is the party is 100 per cent upatriotic towards Australia.

The proposed question: do you want an 'aussie' ? is loaded and the AEC should strike it down

A fair question would be:

should australia be a constitutional monarchy or a republic?

gtr: that is true, there is the Turnbull aspect to it, but if he was strong he could shrug it off. All he has to say is that Australia is a constitutional monarchy and will remain so under my Prme Ministership. Instead, he waffles about 'popular movements', making himself look silly.

Shorten has changed his position on policies himself.

Bazza you are surely not suggesting the Turnbull government got up literally by the skin of its teeth on the gay marriage vote policy each party put forward? Turnbull nearly lost the unlosable election simply because it was a little too early for a very slim majority for another Labor government.
