I love watching Perth Glory so I'm a subscriber to Paramount+ for that reason only. So last night there's a game between the two Melbourne teams "the Darby" as they call it over there. As I'm sure most people have seen by now violence broke out with fans invading the pitch to attack the City goal keeper because he threw a flare back into the crowd that was thrown at him.

Can't see the replay of the game on Paramount. Are they in damage control now not wanting to show what soccer fans are really capable of? Censorship gone mad. I've emailed Paramount and told them they are a joke.

I watched bit of a game last week between Sydney and WSW. It was packed with shirtless yobbos at each end jumping up and down shouting abuse'at each other. I thought there was a possibility of something like what happened last night happening in that game. It didn't during the game but I read there was fights breaking out everywhere outside the stadium after the game. Who would have thought?

We get pretty passionate at our game but at the end of it its just a game you win or you lose and you walk home happy or dejected on the result. I don't think any of us walk out the ground thinking about getting in a fight with opposition supporters.

Don't think FIFA aren't watching this play out. They have been fighting Soccer Hoolanism for 40 years.
The reality is visiting English fans to other clubs home grounds.Have train stations closed, only the visiting fans can depart the station.Police escorted to the ground.Opposing fans sit away from each other. Then there escorted back to the empty train station to head home,on the train.
As much as I cheered on the Aussie team in Quatar.Im glad it's only a minor Australian sport at senior level.
But still have a memory of 1970's brawls at Wafl matches. In the outer ,outside the ground and at the pubs.My father use to take me to WP v EP games.
Remember the first game of State footy I went to.1976 ,Wa v Victoria.Pre SOO
The Wa stars didn't fire and we got belted by 10 goals.A huge fight started on the grass bank behind the goals, Princess Margret End of the ground. From memory about 20 Vic fans where having a really good day.And some of the local boys put an end to that.

That was 1977 - the last pre-State of Origin state match at Subi when Hudson kicked ten on 'star' fullback Duckworth. I also thought that brawl was the result of racist remarks, but I was at the other end and could be wrong.

Me and my mate were right in the thick of it, we would have been 14 then. We sat on the bench seats behind the goals in a pocket. I remember seeing all these Victorians wearing the big V jumper and looking a bit rough. Huge numbers of aboriginal supporters used to occupy that hill and I thought there would be trouble up there at some point. Fights were breaking out everywhere we panicked and jumped the fence onto the ground standing next to the players.

Success Hill +DD I was pretty close to that also. Not sure the Vic boys had taken on our  Indigenous boys before. They had the crappers belted out of them by the Wa boys.

We were in the three tier. I remember someone near us saying 'they've knocked the fence down!', not realising that what we where seeing from 200 metres away were as you say people teeming over the fence to get to safety on the ground.

Its just more dreadful publicity for the game in Australia, crushing the positive feeling that the Australian run in the world cup created. Hope these thugs are banned for life.

The A League is really amateur hour organization wise, they have had aggro ethnic gangs, and let's call them for what they are, ethnic gangs for decades and still cannot resource security good enough to control it, flares in grounds are a no no, searching and strict control of entry to grounds is a must with these thugs, it's a sad fact that soccer attracts them and A League has declining crowds and viewership and as a result revenue.
Ive seen blues at the WAFL like the one mentioned above but nothing on the scale of attacking players.

Fenced enclosures may need to return for soccer.
