I had to laugh reading a piece in an Eastern States paper by some soccer reporter named Vince Rugari or similar over the weekend that suggested a-league soccer is or was the biggest sport in Summer in Australia!
Sheesh I have read some laughable stuff in my time but that probably takes the cake.
Cricket would dwarf soccer in every conceivable factor bar probably participation, in fact I would argue the NBL Basketball is bigger here than soccer. 

Yeah but in what sense was he talking? Participation ? its played in winter bar the A league, crowds? Nah , Media Nah.
