We can't control what Peel gets from the Fremantle Dockers and obviously with the AFL bye leading into Round 1 players who haven't played their full quota of minutes through the pre-season will probably be available. At a quick glance that could be 15 or 16 of them and could include Michael Barlow, Paul Duffield, Danyle Pearce and some seasoned players. We are expecting a very good Peel Thunder side but we have to back in our players, prepare ourselves well and have a real crack.

Bill made those comments on Bills Grill. A win over Peel with the bulk of the team being AFL players would lift the boys confidence immensely. Looking forward to the game and I hope there is a big turnout of WP & Dockers supporters.

Good to see Papertalk and Shannon in the League side.. both excelled in the game last week. Chooky back lets hope he can kick a few. :cheer:
Tim Sutherland in to either help up forward or do some Rucking to give Chris a break as up against it with Peel Rucks.
Happy with side depending on who runs on. Razor,Crisp and Manzone lost the raffle for last weeks game.. All up it could of been a number of players who dropped down.
Good to see Strike in the back line he was incredible there last year and IMO he played better back than forward. Always handy and a great sweeper to have down in the back line.

Budget cover Interesting they have THE EP EAGLES as the poster. lets hope it isnt a joke after last years effort.. Maybe they should of just put a Dockers poster in the centre :( Gee it is an amazing team they have in the pic. Wheres the Dockers? What a load of shit..

MATCH PREVIEW BY Ross Lewis

WEST PERTH v PEEL

Training at HBF Arena during the week will have had a feel of target practice.
West Perth struggled to find the right spot in round one. The Falcons registered just 50 marks in the loss to South Fremantle – not one took more than five catches
– and it meant the lads from Joondalup were always under pressure.

There is no doubting West Perth’s ability to get the ball. Shane Nelson proved that with 38 touches and Rohan Kerr carried the ball 25 times.
But the Falcons need to generate more opportunities for their forwards. It is significant that Aaron Black, Andrew Strijk, Kerr and Kody Manning provided five
of the team’s eight goals against the Dogs.

Bill Monaghan’s unit meets a Peel that is tough to predict. The Thunder line-up will depend greatly on what their AFL aligned club Fremantle want to do.
One local player pushing for selection is Mitch Gill, who has been impressive in the Peel
defence during pre-season. However, it is the experience of Eddie Dann, Leroy Jetta and Josh Bootsma that will be critical to Thunder’s 2015 development.

Good time to be playing PT. If you can't beat a mob that aren't playing to win you're in a bit of trouble.

Hopefully a move to the reserves will give Razor and Crispy the desire back to mix it on the higher level - sadly tho razor has been off his game for a while now and I'd hoped he'd improved from the back end of last year but Bills showing him otherwise
It's going to be interesting playing against a mainly dockers outfit, and interesting to see what coaching moves will be made .... I'm guessing most of Freos wil be at the game
We have a good chance to blood some of the reserves who want to be part of the game this year and to show there skills and with last weeks team antics creating reasons for their chance I wish them luck

This will not be an easy game by any means, no matter how strange the introduced line up against us will be for each other. We have to play for each other and to the plan Bills given the team
No kicking to silly contests when men are open and free, no out of bounds on the full when no pressure applied and a good running game with pressure applied by our own players one after the other as we started in the scratch matches
Chooky needs to step up - keep the boundary 'superstar' goals shots to a minimum and play team footy, Manning to play his usual hard freight train game mixed with the speed and skills he showed last week, Adams to stand tall in the backline, we need his balance and strength to push back the flow and the Middle men to power the move toward OUR goals, with effective touches, kicks etc
Let's see a big crowd show support for the boys and to stick it to 7 by supporting Ch 9 in any way possible. Sunday times is also leading the way for us where the west has given us a cold shoulder also

I wish I could be there but I'll be listening on the radio
Go west!!!!!!

One advantage West Perth may have is that a number of the established Dockers playing ( Duffield, Pearce, Barlow) may be on limited game times by order of the AFL club and so as the game goes on, Peels interchange options could become quite limited. I believe its going to be 29 degrees tomorrow, so this would be a massive advantage to the Falcons late in the game.

agree completely mike...you wouldn't think the dockers would risk the likes of Barlow, Pearce and Duffield for next weeks opener by running them into the ground on a 29 degree day. i would think they'd each play a certain amount of game time depending on their own particular fitness and match preparation levels.

Just because a few AFL players join in doesn't necessarily mean you will be a better team.

Adding the Freo Dickers to the team just gives meat to a story for the West

No matter how they perform on the field they'll be written up to have had a wonderful game and shown all the right attributes for AFL return.....

Agreed Growler, we are only going to improve if Bill is prepared to drop players like the above mentioned, Razor, Crispy and to a lesser extent Manzone have been in terrible form for over 12 months and I firmly believe that our demise last year was due to complacency. The sooner the players step out of their comfort zone, we will improve other wise this season will soon replicate 2014.
