Couldn't agree more MarkOlsen. Makes you wonder what the players managers and the AFL players association are doing. All players should be made to do some sought of studying and courses when they are playing so they can stand on there own 2 feet when they finish there playing days and not rely on hand outs.
They need to realize that footy isn't forever.

You really would think that with the Multi Millions the AFL machine generates yearly that some thought and action would be in place to ensure the players coming out of the factory would have some better options ahead of them than promises and hopes ...

I agree with previous posts, - what's the payers reps doing - what are the managers creating for their meal tickets, where is the 'ownership' of ones own life by the individual players??

Sad really - but the machine keeps on rolling and the players with reality bite marks taken out of their back end keep arriving on the street.

Think the AFL more than encourages players to plan/learn for life after footy, but with many of em not the sharpest tool in the shed, i think the message doesnt get through. Not that im talking up the afl machine at all

Falcon wrote: Why don't these blokes find their own jobs like the rest of us mortals?

Are they that useless or lazy that they need a footy club to find them a job?

Trouble is most of these blokes(not all) are soft and need a soft job, put them out in a factory with men who get their hands dirty and "WORK" for a living and they "DON"T LIKE IT" ........

Generation WHY, or is it Y???

Ever thought that he may have studied while he was in the AFL but instead of going into that profession he decided he wants to stay in football and move into coaching?

Na, he is just the stereotypical stupid uneducated ex footballer.

Don't put words in my mouth Barney.
Never said he was uneducated or stupid.
Just said a lot of AFL footballers come out of the system without any planning for like after footy.

So now South Freo and Peel speaking out and supporting WP in the Sunday Times. No guesses for who the new sponsors are at the Falcons. Good to see clubs supporting each other
