Cant understand why west perth coaching staff opted for a 200cm ruckman in martin to play against east perth after coming off a nil possession game in the foxtel cup.

Sensational pictures Cardy. Hope they had some surf lifesavers on standby :P.
Reminded me of the time when many of the grounds had cricket pitches in the centre and they would become quagmires in the wet weather

This is insane!
I saw the oval in a shocking state at the B grade ammo grand final last year but this is amazing.
Surely that ground wasn't fit for a game of football of any level and if I were the powers that be at West Perth I'd've declined to play.
If the home team can't provide a safe playing field then they forfeit the points.

see senior seagull's post over on another thread...apparently west coast requested a surface to train on at leederville which replicated grounds in melbourne...hence a layer of clay sits below the surface which restricts water being absorbed and has nowhere else to go.

Maddog explain to be what was unsafe about it.

If you had any inkling of safety you will realise that ankle and knee injuries were less likely given the give in the ground and the chances of being drowned are ridiculous given the number of peiople watching, get over yourself and be sensible!

BC this was confirmed in todays footy write up in the Worst, although they declined to mention it was done for the Eagles benefit. They have moved on long ago as virtually all grounds their pampered princesses play on are akin to bowling greens.

The Movie stars from the AFL (as one commentator called them) would NEVER play on a ground like that or even close. Shit it would of most probably made their Makeup run as well..

Love the comments from the ABC commentators as they put shit on it all day
A couple I can remember from Phil Lamb were
Shit xxxxxxxx obviously didnt read the splash on that play
and the renaming of the ground from MediBank to MuddyBank.
Maybe they should put witches hats around the flooded bits

They had a few others as well but forgot them.

Gee bit slack of the TV weather not to tell us of Possible flooding at Leederville B)

Christ it is a winter sport and the grounds must be able to sustain heavy rain.
Nah its only WAFL.. dont spend any money. Sure the Subi supporters and club wouldnt be happy either. Home ground to 2 WAFL clubs. :(

Shit the change rooms didnt look to good either
