Love the comments from the ABC commentators as they put shit on it all day
A couple I can remember from Phil Lamb were
Shit xxxxxxxx obviously didnt read the splash on that play
and the renaming of the ground from MediBank to MuddyBank.
Maybe they should put witches hats around the flooded bits

They had a few others as well but forgot them.

I think another was the flooded area on the Vincent Street end 50 meter arc became the "50 metre pool"

Reminded me of the time when many of the grounds had cricket pitches in the centre and they would become quagmires in the wet weather

Yes those were the days Mikeh.. cricket pitches in the centre but at least they always seemed to play around it. I even remember the MCG having a muddy pitch along with some others. The girls at the AFL wouldnt allow it now.
Had one at a country ground a couple of years ago where was it WAFL or a AFL game was played and caused a bit of a STORM :( in a tea cup.

Sure a lot of Ammos and Country teams still play in pretty bad conditions but Leederville for a inner city ground was a DISGRACE.

Now we have a EP V SUBI game there this weekend.. The ground after being chopped up by 3 grades in the mud must be worse and if they have a bit of rain as we are having this week surely they will have to move it.

Hey how about Subi.. (not sure if AFL game there this week) Nah the AFL /EAGLES or Dockers would NEVER allow it....

I suppose you aint going to stop the rain by complaining

If you had any inkling of safety you will realise that ankle and knee injuries were less likely given the give in the ground and the chances of being drowned are ridiculous given the number of peiople watching, get over yourself and be sensible!

That's funny Grump cos it seems Wellingham suffered a season ending knee injury on Saturday.
If you can't see the grass that you are supposed to be running on because there are 2 inch puddles of water then I'd say that's pretty unsafe. Who knows if there's pot holes or not.

and if you watch the vision it was an impact injury not a planting injury (the most common form of knee injuries), again know what ur are talking abt cos u just look silly. I was running over the ground in the colts game it was safe except for the big chance of me ending up on my fat rr's.

If Perth has a wet August and the ground stays in the condition that it is now into September, it could be an issue for the WAFC as it is almost certain that there will be two finals at Leederville Oval. It would be disappointing if finals were played on a ground covered in puddles and mud. Maybe the WAFL need to be a bit proactive with this and minimise the number of games played on the ground while it is in this state. Maybe need to relocate colts and reserves games to other grounds during August?
