Write up in the West from the game

Full roundup at

au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/sport/a/-/wafl...e-into-second-place/

West Perth had their lazy moments but got the job done against Peel at Arena Joondalup today.

The Falcons stormed out to a 49-point lead half-way through the third quarter - their eventual winning margin - to put the result beyond doubt.

Though Peel fought back late in the third quarter and early in the last to close to 24 points, the home team grabbed control again with a five-goal final term to triumph 17.12 (114) to 9.11 (65).

West Perth consolidated second place on the ladder with the victory in fine conditions.

The AFL-listed players on both teams made their mark. Fremantle ruckmen Jack Hannath and Craig Moller looked fit and appeared to get through the game well.

The Falcons were confronted with a talented midfield including Hannath, Moller, Jesse Crichton, Brendon Jones and Viv Michie but their own midfield stole the show when it mattered.

I was talking to Paul Sanzone the WPFC RESERVES COACH today re the difficulty of getting a picture of him for a previous post on this thread. I asked him if he was a wanted man and didnt like pics floating around as I couldnt even find a pic of him when he was playing B)

Bugger just found a pic while I was looking for pics for the new FB site called
Lost WAFL started up by a couple of keen WAFL followers and here it is.
Ok hard to recognise him as it is for a couple of the other familiar players.

Hmm the match review will be interesting on Monday night. Will keep you updated.

Dont know what was wrong with Kody Manning but he appeared to have taken his Angry pills today. I was getting a bit concerned. Obviously a Peel Player had done something to him or said something to upset him?

Lets hope a couple of reprimands or withdrawls come into it.

hmmm From what I saw of the game Manning wasn't 'Angry' at all - he's getting his mojo back and he is and always has been a player that lets the opposition side know he's there.
Watching the reserves it was easy to see a marked difference in style and approach i.e. how may stopped or balked when confronting an incoming player, or an approaching possible collision - watching the seniors both Mellington and Manning don't let sentiment into their game, it is guaranteed they come away sore from the game but their opposition players even sorer - you'll discover Bill is extremely pleased with this manner of approach and intensity - More to come I should think!!

The umpiring was "very very soft" in this area - - IT CAN BE A MILISECOND BETWEEN A PERCEIVED FARE BUMP AND ONE THAT AN UMPIRE CHECKS FOR BEING LATE?? - I GUESS THEY CONTINUE TO ERR ON THE SIDE OF CAUTION.....

Thank goodness we have several players who aren't going the way of the politically correct Disneyland family channel game some of those in higher power are trying to produce for general consumption.
Some might even call much of the contested rule changes we as a viewing spectator and TV audience an then more importantly the 'beleaguered players' a form of Censorship!!!
The Head is sacrosanct - but give me a break with the rest of this "girly-boy" abuse of a grown up mans (and girls) sport

.... A few comment threads in reply???? lets see.. :P
