Since the clock is stopped when the ball goes out of play it is a corollary that one can't waste time under those circumstances. Since your premise is fundamentally unsound your opinion is equally unsound.

Indisputably on balance Perth was the better team for most of the game. Should Swans have won the game is a moot point.

However, the quality of umpiring is getting worse. A fundamental lack of feeling for the game and equally an inability to apply common sense combined with a delusional feeling of self-importance way beyond narcissism are the problems with the umpires at this point in time.

There is no doubt the umpiring is getting worst, that 50 meter penalty was totally uncalled for, there is no time wasteage in that situation as you say, all that was needed was a warning to the bench after the game. Clearly the that umpire was trying to be some sort of star on the day.

The exibition down fremantle oval friday night was no better, it was topped off by some up himself young bloke umpire poking his tongue out pointing and laughing at the members stand as he walked down the race at the end of the game, how unproffesional is that..WAFL is becoming a circus act.

Maybe it wasnt for time wasting...mind you do you lot know for sure that the ump had called for time off at that time, the clock only stops when the umpire calls for it to be stopped,it doesnt happen automatically!

What are the rules for the bench interfering with the ball when the opposition have a free??

By the way Swans got plenty of frees that wernt there,it wassnt one way traffic with the umps!

Ill just say this 1 more time and won't go on about it any longer.

In the 2013 law book there is a section that explains what constitutes a 50 penalty. It is law 18.1(f) and explains it very clearly. It says nothing about the clock being stopped. It says nothing about time wasting. If an opposition official has the ball in his or her hands and does not return it on the full it is a 50 meter penalty. End of story

at least that means Perth supporters can never ever complain again about a 50 metre penalty which ever goes against their club again, no matter how soft it is as other clubs can just point to the rule book..
technically it was a free kick and the umps can justify that and Perth can point to the rules, thats sport unfortunately..

Perth have used up their umpire bagging credits now though..

thank god the gun forward Reimers didnt carve us up, that would have really iced the cake on the way home on the train !! :)

Yep spot on. I like you like every footy supporter can and will yell and scream at the game but if the laws back the umpire we all have to suck it up. It looks like a terribly soft 50 but it says nothing about "soft" in the book.

Not doubt we'll cop our stinker of soft one before the season is out that will cost us

You may have won the game if that silly kicking the ball in from a behind, actually kicked it over Reimers head, i reckon those sorts of mistakes cost Swans more than anything else.

Swans cost themselves, no complaints there..

was just referring to the ump and the 50 decision, just dont go crying when Perth lose a game from a "soft" decision..

that's sport is all you will have to say when the umpy comes off smiling at the pig pen after a Demons last minute loss :)

If that was a final or GF mate, ill bet my left nut it would not have been payed!! Fuck the rule book, since when do the umps always go by the rules verbatum? Im yet to see it on a consistent basis, What about the rushed behind rule? I see 3 or 4 every week that never get payed, same with deliberate out of bounds, there needs to be commonsense in this game like there used to be in the 80s, i bet Parry wouldnt have made it out of Lathlain on Sat if it was the other way, the way he was smirking on the way off was sickening

But your right Demons fans have given up their right to complain about umps the rest of the year, i know how Dogman feels from last week now, yes we probably didnt deserve it after the majority of the crap we dished up on Sat and that should spell big danger to Perth that we could just about pinch it after playing sh1t
