See my comment on the EP thread; there is no such thing as a 'growth area' in football terms'; the commission allocates the zones according to equal numbers not whether the area has population growth, as such. In the longer run WP will lose some of their zone; Subi has not had a 'growth area' since the 1990s, similar to the PFC and the other clubs.

Clearly some of the Perth faithful have no clue on how the WAFC allocates zones…

What they also fail to understand is it’s not a short or long term fix to move into the heart of these so called growth areas.

WP moved to Joondalup in 1994 and all of their League players in the late 90s and 2000s continued to come from the established suburbs and JFCs such as Warwick, Northern Districts ( Greenwood), Kingsley, Whitfords etc.

The ‘new’ growth clubs they moved towards were full of Auskickers but couldn’t sustain participants through to Yr 12. Someone from WP might be able to confirm but I recall being told by a WP development coach that Conor West (Joondalup Kinross) was the first League player produced from WPs growth area - if that’s true he debuted in 2018! 1994 to 2018 is a bloody long time for their growth area to produce a League player. Has Brighton or Yanchep JFC ever produced a League player for WP? Can’t see any on their current league squad. Edgewater has a senior squad member but they’ve not debuted in League yet.
