East Perth are trying to do it. We should be too. We should be in talks about it with the Gosnels Shire Council. I've identified an ideal spot right next to Thornlie Train Station. It's currently a reserve called Aylesford Way Reserve, looks big enough to accommodate a WAFL stadium and possibly an Aquatic Centre and an indoor basketball stadium similar to Joondalup Arena.

It would better connect us within our zones and provide great access by train from North and South of the river and east to Armadale. We got to cut the apron strings with the Eagles where there will always be this never ending suggestion that we should align with them to solve their problems.

Great stuff DD.Present your proposal to the Perth Board.You will adventually get kicked out of Lathlain or be sucked up by the Eagles.If you don't relocate, for the independent future of your club.

Interesting idea. We’re always going to be third rate tenants at Lathlain. 

We need to go with the growth areas because that's our only hope of being sustainably competitive.

Thornlie isn't the area it used to be, they seem to be struggling for numbers in junior ranks now a days but i think things like this are ideas PFC needs to explore and consider, otherwise in a couple of years a merger with Eagle will be raised again and if Perth continues to struggle on field, it would be hard to refuse.

I wasn't looking to be located necessarily in the middle of some rich talent zone PH, rather looking for locations ideally within walking distance to a train station. Thornlie Train Station would have been perfect but I've looked at the scale of that reserve adjoining the Thornlie station car parks and you could barely fit an oval in it let alone a grandstand and parking so that unfortunately is out. There are two big ovals within walking distance of Maddington and Gosnels stations.

I assume local ammo and junior footy clubs play there so that presents challenges although maybe those clubs aren't as strong numbers wise as they used to be, similar as you say about Thornlie. 

The government is I think close to finishing the Thornlie to Cockburn link, maybe there might be some open space along that line near a new station.

Lathlain is within walking distance to a train station.

There is no point moving next to another football club, either.

Because as long as we are located at Lathlain the commission will give us fuck all and that's why they took zones off us because we didn't want to move. We need to grow a set of balls, get off our arse and talk to other councils in our zones that are willing to embrace a Joondalup type set up with other sporting facilities around it and have our own oval so we are not dictated to about where and when we can train like we are now. Clear enough?

Or I tell you what will happen, another club will and we will have missed our opportunity.
