Will Pucovski may well be playing himself into the first test team V India with a monumental knock which currently stands at 253 not out in the shield. Coupled with the fact that Joe Burns seems out of nick at the moment I can see this guy opening with Warner in Adelaide, maybe Cam Green at 6 as well so a bit of generational change could be happening here.

Would love to see the likes of young Pucovski & Green given an opportunity Mike, especially over the likes of Harris (who also made a 200 in a 400+ opening partnership with Pucovski) who had his chances at Test level and seemed well short of Test level imho.
Hopefully the Test selectors have finally drawn a line through Harris, Burns, Khawaja, S.Marsh etc as it is time to move on with more promising youth!

Australia really needs to see a full season of innings by Pucovski - there's been too many gaps thus far and I daresay he'd have been in already if it wasn't the case

only other prodigies (besides Bradman) like this have been Ponting & maybe Hookes

Spot on there lads...hopefully JL pulls the trigger and gives test debuts to both Pucovski and Green....understand completely where Southerner is coming from with continuity with Pucovski, but geez how exciting for an Aussie cricket fan seeing a top six batting order of Warner Pucovski Labuschagne, Smith, Head and Green....nice mix of right/left handed batsmen....with 4 of those top six capable of batting 200 balls plus....fark off Burns and Wade....add Cummins, Starc/Pattinson, Lyon and Hazlewood and there's a competitive well balanced test eleven....especially with the ashes next year.

Surely Pucovski has belted the door completely down with a 2nd double ton in 2 innings? They can't leave him out of the test team on these performances?

Australia Test squad: Tim Paine (c), Sean Abbott, Joe Burns, Pat Cummins, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Michael Neser, James Pattinson, Will Pucovski, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Swepson, Matthew Wade, David Warner.

This is a 17 man squad so they have hedged their bets at this stage by picking Pucovski and Burns who will be competing for the opening position as well as Wade and Green who will battle out the number 6 spot. I would be going for the younger men on both counts.
Great also to see Leggie Swepson in the squad, he has certainly been the form bowler in the shield so far and would have to be a chance to play the tests in Adelaide and Sydney.

Apparently there will be a "bat off" between Burns and Pucovski in the Aust A game v India....Burns averaged 32 last summer at test level and done nothing so far this season....nice fella, but seriously how is he even in the squad...either squad TBH...

Good to see some new names, especially Swepson and Sutherland....pity Inglis and Kelly didn't get a look in though....hopefully they will soon. The future looks exciting for Aust cricket if Pucovski, Green and Sutherland can step up to the next level.....Pucovski, Labuschagne, Smith and Green on paper looks pretty imposing....along side a bowling attack of Cummins, Starc, Pattinson, Hazlewood, Green and Sutherland....not sure how M Marsh got in there though in the Aust A team
