A bat off? Sounds like indecision by the selectors to me. They should just take a deep breath and pick the kid who has literally got the runs on the board.

Hopefully Cam Green is given a debut in the 2nd ODI today in place of the injured Marcus Stoinis.
It would inject a bit of interest into a ho-hum series and also give Cam a bit of a taste of the big time ahead of what is hopefully a test debut in a few weeks.
The first ODI was a pretty forgettable game with an appalling over rate and poor fielding standing out. The batting of Finch and Smith for Australia and Hardik and Dharwan for India was good but the pitch gave the bowlers no help at all so it was a run fest.

Looks like Abbott might get the nod over Green....pity if so...not sure if playing Labuschagne and Smith is necessary, though guess it is insurance in case Aust go 3 down pretty quickly and need to rebuild...though Green has shown he has patience and temperament with his batting....

Well batted Labuschagne, didn't think he could bat like that....looks like he is a necessary selection after all.....with Warner out most likely and the series won, Labuschagne to open and bring Green in hopefully.....great catch and steady bowling by Henriques, thought his international was cooked TBH...

Yes I was surprised how effective Henriques was with the ball and that catch was superb. Another option for the last game would be to open with Carey and bring Green in at number 6 or 7.
Must admit that groin injury to Warner looked pretty serious and I was wondering whether he may struggle to get up for the first test. In this case it will be a debut for Pucovski in Adelaide where he has scored a few runs recently

Interesting comments from Finch in that they are considering 3 possible replacements for Warner as an opener, Wade, Carey or Labuschagne. Also they need a replacement for Cummins, probably Sams or Abbott but they may rest some more guys and go into experimental mode given the series is already won so maybe Green has a chance of debuting.
Langer is not hopeful of having Warner fit for the first test. Candice Warner apparently cheekily suggested on radio that her husbands groin injury may have been caused through over exertion during off field activities given that he had been away from his wife and family for 4 months! :P

Cam Green has scored a century in the AUS A vs IND A game currently being played at Drummoyne Oval.
He has looked a class above all of the other Aus batsmen in the game and built his 100 nicely after surviving an early chance when dropped in the slips.
I thought he also bowled well in his limited overs in the IND A first innings as well as did James Pattinson who bowled with good pace, fire and direction.

funny what can happen to confidence when opportunity is given mate

unless Warner gets out on the track in the next week or so both Burns & Pucovski will walk out together instead of nudging one another out the door

cricket has it's quirks of fates eh?

It will be hard for the selectors to deny Green a test debut, particularly as he is now a genuine bowling option as well. If picked he will be playing in place of Wade who has probably had his day at test level, particularly given his problems against Wagner and Co last summer with the short bowling.
If Warner doesn't play and Green and Pucovski are selected, there will be only one left hander in the top 7 (Head). Probably been a fair while since right handers have dominated the batting order in that way.

Very true BH, great to see Green score that 100, whilst others around him found ways of getting out between 1 and 35. Be disappointing if the kid doesn't get the nod over Wade, but no doubt that quick fire T20 50 the other night has secured that number 6 test spot for Wade. Pretty sure a number 6, who can score runs and bowl a few overs at 140 clicks in a,day night game is more handy then a number 6 who can don the gloves as well....

The Pucovski / Burn "bat off" fell flat on its face, I guess with another game on Fri, those two will have another crack....Harris must of been kicking himself getting out like did on 35....actually am more receptive to Harris and Pucovski opening instead of Burns and Pucovski....the former have the opening partnership runs on the board so far in the SS.
