Agree on Smith. I have always said I don't rate him at all and can't believe he still gets a game. You may as well get games into youngsters than keep playing this pretender. Also I have never rated Mitch Brown. I reckon is he is clearly not up to scratch at this level. Have we ever won a game where both Smith and Brown have played in the same team? You can't afford to carry two logs!

I suppose it depends on who you follow rock. The way I saw it was that Embley tried to lay a fair bump, but was careless and stuffed it up - 2-4 weeks for me. Pav surprised me because he's not a dirty player, but I reckon frustration got the better of him and he simply wanted to hand out a sh!t mixer - 3-4 weeks for me.

Agree with you Viper. Can't believe Mayne was overlooked for the medal, he played a great one. Very under-rated player.
That ending only made the bad years' seem as if they never even happened...

Pavlich and Embley will both go. I actually think Embley will go for longer than Pav for a few reasons.
1 - he knocked Pearce out and was unable to play on
2 - he doesnt have a good record
3 - if you look at the replay, he runs past the ball and looks at clancee. He might have gotten away with it if he had his hands down to get the footy, or at least be looking at the footy, but no.
I would be surprised if he gets less than 4 weeks.
I think Pav will get 2, but 1 with an early plea.
All in all it was a good derby up until 3/4 time. Freo just outclassed an undermanned WCE in the last.

I dont think Brown is that bad. He is still young, and hasnt been given that many opportunities due to WCE strong backline. Smith is rubbish though, young Wilson should have given a game before him.
Cox needs to start playing footy again, instead of playing for freekicks at every fucking contest. It absolutely shits me to tears how much he does it these days. He never used to do it, only this season and last.

Agreed with Mayne, he played a fantastic game. I didnt think Barlow was going to get it at all. And yea, Sandi has to go.. He is a liability to Freo.

Embley went past the ball and hit his opponent high, I think he will get 2-3 weeks. Pavlich 4. But hey ol mate that hit Sheppard last week should have gotten 6, he only got 2. Embley and Pavlich could be playing next week the way the MRP works.

Smith is an absolute flog. Brown I thought played pretty well, but just his decision making at times. Will get better, as he seems to be the same as McKenzie when he was coming into the team regularly.

Mayne did play well, but i would certainly have given the medal to stephen hill. All his touches were damaging, his goals were great. His pace and run cut us open big time. Could have gone to a number of players, but I think Hill was the difference between the two sides in the end.

Two screamers - Mzungu right at the start and Mayne on Schofield, brilliant. Mayne for me was BOG.
Eagles have let through almost 1400 points this year to the Dockers 1050.
Defense is a problem, Smith is average, Brown is getting better and with his intensity deserves more time. Glass is almost unbeatable. Mackenzie has a brain fade here and there but good mostly.
Schofield needs to man up a bit more. With Waters out for too long this season and no Hurn. Brennan ok, not consistent enough but still young.
Game has passed big Sandi but only 2 games in...so

thought it was a terrific game until freo clicked into gear. up until then it was a beauty. eagles were never going to be able to sustain it. freo really set up for a serious finals tilt. eagles, like my kangas are just making up the numbers. both clubs lack resiliance.

pav will get a week, embley 2

mzungu a real decent player. has suprised me how good he has been. good on him and an example for wafl players who have been in the system for a while. keep at it.

anchorman wrote: A very very good game of football.Eagles ran out of petrol tickets at 3/4 time,Dockers ran over the top of them.
I thought Stephen Hill would get the medal or Chris Mayne,as both were brilliant all day, though in saying that I thought that Barlow was good as well.
AHH good on ya boys give up on Sandi,he was the go to man during the transition out of defence. He is coming good.but we will let those doubters have their say.Come finals time look out.
I thought Clarke was also good for us against the much vaunted ruck division in the competition.
The Eagles were very competitive up to 3/4 time,I thought it was goin g to go right to the wire, maybe a last quarter kick, but far too many Eagles went walk about and didn't want any more physical batterings.
I thought that Carter looked a ready made AFL player,he did well.
Pavlich will get two down to one.Embley will get three maybe down to two ,but not sure an early plea will save him,Three and three to stay.
I thought both our young kids,Sutcliffe and Sheridan did ok.Still a long way from having real influence in the side but doing their bit.

A/man I watched the game live on Foxtel and then watched a replay later on that night specifically looking at what Barlow did for him to win the medal. Whilst he did some good things, there is no way that Mayne should not have the medal. His defensive work alone would have made him close to a certainty to win the medal. How only one of the three 'judges' voting on the medal thought he was in the best three is almost as big a mystery as those suggesting that Sandilands was useless and should be traded. Perhaps they weren't watching the same game.

As for the respective penalties that Embley and Pavlich should/will get: Embley should be looking at three at very minimum and should have an extra week thrown in based on the fact that he did it to a fellow Swan Districts' player.

Pavlich will probably get one week as I think in mitigation will be his last moment attempt to avoid the bump when he realised the circumstances.

The Eagles were very disappoining in the last quarter. They did not fire a shot. If Naitanui is down on form Cox is incapable or unwilling to provide any sort of leadership.

dean cox has been the best afl ruckman in the past 30 years. the man has carried alot of the load and done a mountain of work. didnt have a great game yesterday but that happens. we would have in in the goalsquare at north if he is interested ?

as for stephen hill, his poise and awareness is getting better every year. getting quite silky in the coalface. the best is yet to come from that young man i feel.
