Since every man and his dog appears to have a view about the Dockers plight at the moment, I thought that I would put something up to represent the fact that there is another AFL team in Perth and its not very nice that they are being lumped with Peel as unworthy of a moderator due to lack of activity on their site. So I decided to do something to help the Eagles by starting a discussion.

So by my observation they aren't going too badly at 3-2 and are certainly in the mix for September. The only concern is that their 2 losses have been significant ones away from home against top shelf sides. They appear to have a number of players who are world beaters in the comfort of their home ground against mediocre sides, yet go missing when things get hot. I'm thinking guys like Hill, Darling, le Cras and Cripps. Their best 10 or 11 players are as good as any other teams. They will win most if not all of their home games and if they can win 4 or 5 away games they will be in the mix for top 4 again, but to be a genuine premiership contender they need to get more consistent performances from the guys above or bring in Lamb and Nelson back and play them every week. Duggan is a very promising young player and will contribute greatly this year.

Any thoughts from others about the Eagles prospects?

the Eagles are travelling poorly but love the home games. Not too many sides will win in Sydney or against Hawks. That means fighting for 3rd to 6th place. They are about 2 - 3 good players short of being a top side.. BUT a win is a WIN even if it only at home.

That is about where they are at, I do not see them as genuine premiership threat this year TBH., the draw last year did them a lot of favours, they will not get the luxury this year and will have to beat the top sides and win away, which I don't think they are good enough to do enough times to make the top 4, its still a bit early but come September I just cannot see them being good enough, with Roos Dogs Swans Hawks Cats Crows all in the mix for a top 4 spot.

And for all the criticism Ross Lyon cops over the last 4 years when he says anywhere anytime, no excuse football club his side has backed it up with away wins including finals. Probably Fremantles greatest ever victory was against Geelong in a final at the cattery.

And we gave Hawthorn a run for their money on GF day. Unlike Sydney and the Eagles who were never in the game.

I think you're being a little generous mike. I don't believe they have beaten anyone of note to date - albeit still very early. I think the draw has given them a bit of a tap, but I don't believe they are as good as they were last year. After all, they are still playing the same sides and have most of their "top guns" back. I think Jetta and Redden have to be the 2 biggest flops so far. One can only hope they start ramping up soon so they do make the finals. I know all the freo fans will be wishing the eagles all the best if they do make the top 5 or 6. Thanks boys.

They look to be travelling pretty well, losses to Sydney & hawthorn earnings the year nothing to worry about.

Young list with elite players across every line.

Addition of a few new players finding their feet.

Outlook for this year and those to come looks extremely positive.

Feel sorry for the clowns down the road, once again etched in history is the monumental recruiting debacle that is the dockers. Couldn't recruit a root in a brothel.
