For the Eagles.  Be interesting to see what they do at the draft table.  Getting a few players that want to play 4 quarters would be a start.

Well I'm barracking for Carlton and Collingwood. 😊

Geelong finishes on top unfortunately by the looks of it. Dad's army. Wouldn't mind seeing Melbourne in a GF over here.

Melbourne got up by 4 points. Shit. Well done Melbourne Demons. Great comeback being down by 6 goals at 3 qtr time.
Get on your bike.

and its goodnight to Fremantle. Spineless performance against a team with nothing to play for. At least the Eagles had a crack against a genuine premiership contender. The Dockers probably wouldn't have made the finals anyway but at least there was a chance to finish the season on a positive note with a 50% record and some momentum and optimism going into 2022. Instead it appears that they put their Cue in the rack after winning the derby

Brilliant end to the season, a second string eagles pushed Brisbane for 3 & a half qtrs but fell short.
Melbourne showed they are a very fit top shelf team with heaps of belief to get over a very good Geelong team.
Gave up on Freo at halftime, insipid nearly 10 goal loss after such a great effort v WC. No WA teams in finals this season.
IMHO, WC have one more good season in them to challenge in the finals if they get everyone on the park, Freo should have a massive upside with a relatively young side, but their skills are so erratic, superb v WC then atrocious v Saints.

It’s just part of their journey…..according to their coach.

Freo improved this year and if not for some atrocious kicking for goal in a number of winnable games, could well have snuck into the 8, but bad kicking is bad footy and they will need to do way better on that front next season. Maybe they could us a late pick to look at Keitel or Mason Shaw up front, both are very high % converters.

They will now have to ensure that they get a decent trade deal for Cerra who has requested to go home. Treacy is definitely a developing forward and they have Lobb and Taberner as other options. Someone like Keitel could fit in as another option and he has had an excellent season in the WAFL.

Carlton are dreaming if they think Freo will take pick 5 and Will Setterfield. For Cherra. He was originally a pick 5 for Freo. And they  have invested 76 games into him.Carlton need to pay the Tim Kelly premium.First and  second  round picks for Freo next 2 years.
Clubs really try and take the piss out of Freo at the trade table.Melbourne with the Hogan trade..
And Setterfield in his 4th season on AFL . Discarded by GWS and now Carlton.Doesnt have the tank to run out 4 quarters of footy. Not suited to a WA side.

Getting back to the Eagles, it looms as an interesting off season for them as well. Decisions need to be made based on where the Eagles are at. The key question is do they think that have one more season to have a shot at a flag with the current squad before they start to prioritise redeveloping their list via draft picks. Will JK and Hurn go around again?  Where do players like Cripps, Shuey, Darling, Nic Nat, Vardy, Sheed, Redden and Hutchings feature in their future plans?  Is it time to settle Oscar Allen in one position instead of using him as a stop gap utility as they have this year?  Will they be active on the trade table? For example there has been some media commentary as to whether Darling would be a potential trade.
Lots of questions to be answered over the next 5 or 6 months.

Good points Mike.  I think Darling could be put on the trade table, he’s brilliant one week and below average for the next 3 games.  I think Cripps is rapidly reaching the end as is Hutch.  I’d give JK another year, but not sure about Hurn.  As for the rest you mention, good observation, going to be interesting.  Simmo has to get it right, because if Clarkson is still hanging around……
