“The Metro Football League is the breeding ground for the WAAFL and is where most new clubs start before moving on to the WAAFL. Some clubs stay in the MFL because the like playing on Sundays. The MFL nurtures the new clubs and helps get them of the ground and helps them stabilise before they eventually move on to the Amateurs. In the last 10 /12 years the following clubs have started out in The MFL and then moved onto the WAAFL. Quinn's, Ellenbrook ,Noranda , Jandakot , Cockburn , Osborne Park , Secret Harbour and Kwinana. That is 8 new clubs nurtured by the MFL for the WAAFL. The MFL nurtures these clubs as it's fees are half that of the WAAFL and the MFL provides all panel umpires . In the last 30 years on only 2 new clubs , Canning Vale and Cottesloe , have started off in the WAAFL”.
When the SFL moved to the WAAFL, Kingsway joined the Mercantile to regroup. It kept a Sunday team for a couple of years there, after it joined the amateurs.
Also housed Wooroloo and Bayswater b4 they morphed back to the WAAFL.
Bayswater along with Baldivis and Safety Bay have used the Metro to field extra teams"

Seems a good arrangement to keep players involved in the game.

Well said Robberdog. Not saying Merc is perfect but some Ami boys like the Turdle should tidy up his own backyard first before casting aspersions
