Like pretty much all vicco dungies it held zero water during footy season remember the centre being slop when Quinlan Pert Conlan Roos and co were on the ABC Winners

Mentioning the quartet of Fitzroy players that you did, Southerner, brings back very fond memories for this passionate Royboy.
Seeing Superboot Bernie Quinlan send a 70m torpedo straight through the middle or Mickey Conlan fend off a few tackles to boot a goal from an impossible angle were two of life's great pleasures.
The Drew Morphett and/or Tim Lane-compered Winners' shows regularly featured Fitzroy matches at the Junction.

Mick Conlan has a highlights package that makes modern "superstars" look very pedestrian!
Had one of the great jumpers of all time Fitzroy did, Brisbane should have worn that exact jumper in Melbourne games from day one of the merger if they genuinely wanted to retain a Fitzroy link.

The Tank certainly loved a goal, Tiger.
While this wasn't Conlan's most spectacular goal, it certainly was his most important.

I agree with you that Brisbane should've worn the Fitzroy jumper on a more regular basis in Melbourne.
If they had of done so, I would've certainly got on board with the "Brions".

Grant Lawrie ,Pekin, Laurie Mugavin , Serafini , Clayton , Alexander & Sidebottom might have been more
they were a pretty successful club at times

Fitzroy had two memorable victory around that time, Southerner.
The Melbourne win that you referred to was at Waverley in 1979.
Fitz 36.22 (238) Melb 6.12 (48)
While not statistically so, the Lions' thrashing of top-of-the-ladder North Melbourne at the Junction in 1983 was an even better performance.
Fitz 34.16 (220) NM 10.10 (70)
The Royboys played an exciting style of footy that no longer exists and deserved to win a premiership during that era.

ah well there you go - wasn't absolutely sure it was Melbourne or North Melbourne turns out it was both
probably remember Bernie Quinlan and that unreal kick more than anything other than Kevin Murray Fitzroy-wise
shame a lot of very good Fitzroy players ended up at other clubs

Max topped their goalkicking one year didn't he mate ?

There was a distinct WA presence at Fitzroy - John Ironmonger , Dean Turner , Kevin Taylor , Ian Miller , John Duckworth , Ian McCulloch , Laurie Richards

Gary Wilson would have to be the most underated player of all time from the VFL Southy which is unusual in itself as they normally talk up there own like no one's business, but he was an absolute champion rover/forward pocket who was every good as Kevin Bartlett imho just without the self publicity machine of KB. Gee he was quick and could kick a bag of goals both when on the ball and when resting in the pocket, Noel Carter was a similar player in the WAFL for SF but just not as quick as Wilson.

Ron Alexander played well over 100 games for the Fitzroy and was club champion in his last year there before heading back west for the 1982 season and bringing with him David Rankin and Colin Waterson.
