Subi have dominated for decade so it’s hardly a knee jerk reaction BC.

Whilst some rules apply directly to Subi, several other clubs have also seen their points caps reduced, whether that has a direct impact on recruiting for these clubs is yet to be seen and will depend on how close to the new cap they currently sit.

If Subi, or any other club, are already maxing out their new points cap then they can’t recruit, but I do agree that if they lose a high points player they should be able to recruit replacements up to the total points cap as set.

Does anyone know what each clubs total points values are currently?

As it was previously, clubs already had different points caps set so nothing has changed in the method, just that a few clubs have been squeezed a little bit tighter to try to equalise the competition further. Equality or equalisation is probably incorrect it’s more about creating a more even playing field through equity.

Interesting about the Level 2 coaching requirement - blind Freddy can pass Level 1 so wonder how many players at how many clubs were being paid as assistant/line/skills coaches outside of the constraints of the salary cap?

Also notice a clause been added aimed clearly at West Perth.

“Recruiting restrictions based on the financial sustainability of clubs – if clubs do not break even or better or do not have cash reserves, their recruitment is restricted.”

BC wrote: No it's wrong. Targeting one club is not the way to equalise the comp...making structural changes right across the board is the only way to do it fairly, effectively and for the long term...and what happens if Subi dominates again next year which we're quite likely to do? Do they make us shed players or start the season at round 4....a short term knee jerk solution which will more than likely have little or no effect and shows the WAFC has no idea.

BC you need to study it again.
They are not targeting one Club.
You need to acknowledge there is a problem.
And you also need to acknowledge that Subi is part of the problem.
All finalists are targeted by the change.

TT, player points have been adjusted quite a lot. The top 4 - S, SF, C and WP - get 100. P have gone from 130-110. SD, EF and EP are 125. It is still an outrage that EP should get concessions after making themselves rich ()as they frequently boast about) through the alignment. Peel and WC have also been reduced. The concern here is that we may as well hand the 2020 cup to S right now. I don't know how many points the other top 4 clubs used, but you would think they would each need at least 3 top quality players to challenge Subi. Perth would need closer to 5, but can probably only get 2. On that point, I don't know where the notion that P are poised to make a move comes from. We lost 9 of our last 13 games, and have just lost our fairest and best. Our home grown players are as good as they're ever going to be and adding just two recruits, if we can find them, won't make a huge difference, maybe allow us to win 11-12 games at best.

STT: it fits in with the logic of making FM play for the Eagles -- it is potty in the head on their part.

Ted SD & EF have 120 points for next year whilst EP have 125.
Who was actually aware EP had 140 points for the 2019 season?

it not the end of the world lads and lasses -- as I understand it Subi can recruit to replace players. Have I read it right?

Arc as i read it and I'll stand corrected, if Subi lose Litherland which appears to be the case, i think he is a 10 point player, Subi can replace him with another player of up to 10 point value as long as Subi stay within the new reduced points cap. Subi can no longer add another player of more than 1 point value without a current player who is more than 1 point leaving.

All clubs get impacted to varying extents by the new rules, just a couple that are Subi specific which I have no problem with.

The idea of reducing Perths points while keeping EP's up is inexplicable, EP maybe rebuilding after the alignment but thats their issue to deal with, Perth should at least have the same points as EF & EP. If they improve and make top 4 for a couple of years in a row then it could be reviewed.
