It’s only a flesh wound.

Seriously guys take a few days to get over being pantsed.

You haven't gotten over the fact that the guy finds the thought of playing at your club as appealing as drinking his own urine and it's been 4 going on 5 months.

You’ll find he’s okay with it. I mean obviously he has very warm feelings toward Bill and Brad for leading him down the garden path and your Prez for not being able to talk PFC into doing your dumb deal but hopefully we can overcome all the favours effc have done him and somehow get him back into the fold.
Now I’m not saying effc are a mob of bozos but they are.
You stick with it bud.

Sounds a little draconian having to force players to play for you - but it is said that the mindset of a club is often stuck in the year that it last won a premiership.

The sticking point at arbitration was the fact Leggett's Manager contacted EF about a possible move, it clearly stated in the contract that he was not to approach any other WAFL clubs whilst contracted. Perth had an email to prove it, any club can contact him no problem. He can still end up at EF if the offer is right but the current $20k + housing will have to be upped. I reckon well done Perth for sticking to their guns, this would have opened up $ubi and EP in particular to get any player they wanted that is contracted, the flood gates would have been thrown wide open.

Very true, Leedy. I don't want to paint Perth as some kind of Resistance, but it was an important stand to make for all WAFL clubs. There would be no problem with EF, or any other club, sounding us out about whether we were open to do a deal. But as Bob Shields said, despite EF being told that we were not prepared to negotiate, they continued to pursue Leggett. The message out of this should be that if a club tells another club they do not want to discuss the release of a contracted player, the other club should back off immediately. Further, player managers need to butt out and respect the contract between club and player. Hopefully, in future, managers will advise players that it is best for them to see out their contract rather than taking some spurious breach of contract claim to arbitration.

As you say Ted, a precedent has been set, which will scare off any future repeat performances of what has gone on with the Cody affair....good not only for the PFC, the other WAFL clubs and my own club as well....another point of issue is that delisted AFL players should be strongly "encouraged" to return to their clubs of origin....by strongly encourage, I mean if another club wants them then that will cost that club 20-25 pts....especially if that club finished higher up the ladder then the club origin did that preceding year....and no I am not talking specifically about Masto....

freezw -- that is well argued, old son, but don't forget the perth lads can still resort to the 'forty years' drought factor on the maston question.
