Normally when a season is done and a premiership is won there can be reflection and acknowledgement.
I would normally do this and it is not out of anger or resentment that I won't this year in the WAFL.
The competition is an unmitigated joke.
I played in country footy for a number of years - in which I saw a great disparity on occasions between some teams in varying seasons. These were for a number of reasons - but to think that the rise and decline of clubs in the Peel Football League, the Upper Great Southern etc was about culture and everyone else raising the bar is nothing but complete and utter codswallop.
And when one of your biggest problems for the season is that your ruckman (who wins the Sandover by the way, along the way) can barely win a hit out (gets nearly 30 in the GF) and kicks a couple of goals to boot - then maybe perspective is a tad askew.
What a slaughter, what a joke and no wonder no-one goes.

I have followed the Sharks since I was a tad. I played footy in Murray Districts (now Peel) Newman, Kununurra and briefly in Darwin. Never, but never have I seen a complete and total domination of one club over a sustained period like this. Country footy would not survive through this scenario and nor will the WAFL.

If you are interested, boys, here's a few stats. I went back as far as 1934, when the WAFL became an 8 team comp. In that time, only two times have finished on top in 5 consecutive seasons: C 1987-91, winning percentage of 80%. Subi 2015-2019, 91% games won. (next best in 2015-2019 is SF at 68%) Only twice have teams finished on top in 4 consecutive seasons: SF 1950-53; S 03-06. There have been three undefeated seasons: EP 1944, EF 1946, S 2018. There have only been 4 seasons where a team has lost just one game: C 1987 (plus one tie), S in 08, 17 and 19. Subi has the highest % in WAFL history, with last year's 221.5. Next best is EP with 217% in 1944. There are only 5 other times that a % of greater than 180 has been recorded: SF in 1952-53 and S in 05, 08 and 19. Subi have played in 13 of the last 17 grand finals.

What is remarkable about this is that they have backed up in consecutive decades and done so in an era of equalisation policies.
