I read a post in the Souths forum about Souths being such an inexperienced team compared to Subi. Even though I don't follow Souths closely I considered they actually had a fair bit of experience, so I did a bit of research. I looked at the two teams that played each other in the recent Semi Final and this may not be exact as I'm no Ric Gauci!
SOUTHS:
WAFL Games - 1565
AFL Games - 172 by 3 players
7 Players with more than 100 games
5 Players with more than 50 games
3 Players with less than 20 games

SUBIACO:
WAFL Games - 1417
AFL Games - 81 by 4 players
4 Players with more than 100 games
11 Players with more than 50 games
4 Players with less than 20 games.

So, given the stats above, maybe not what people are thinking.

Singha, is that just WAFL games or have you included State league equivalents? I would think Kitchin, Delahunty, Newton, Lockyer, Litherland, Horsley and Marsh would have played quite a few VFL/NEAFL games games between them.

No just WAFL games mate. Bit beyond me to do the rest, but I think it still shows Souths to have a fair amount of experience, even after losing a lot last year

Haha - great work Singha (I havent cross checked you numbers but I’m sure they’re pretty good)

Grand Final experience though Subiaco have a massive advantage over Souths though

Out of the 38 players used by Subiaco in 2019, 22 of them have played in a GF, with 21 winning at least 1. South’s only have two players with grand final experience, but none with South Nick Suban (Claremont & Peel) and Blayne Wilson (EP)

I’d be interested in the numbers of finals games played by members of both teams.Can you run that at all?
