Leedy, there's no argument about how well your mob are going, on the field at least, Joondy are on current form the 2nd best team in the comp. Souths are a very good team but their second half of the season has been inconsistent at times, similar for Claremont, both have good lists but not playing to potential. Valentine has done a great job with Joondy, like Billy, he's getting the max out of his group, not sure if there's more to give as I dont know the injury situation up there. Perth are a work in progress, they have taken big steps this season and with the addition of a few KPP they will improve more, if they stay in the 5 and play a final thats a pretty good achievement and a good stepping stone, will be interesting to see what their new board does to shore up their list. WCER are the elephant in the room and if they make it and WC go deep into September and dont cop any injuries they could easily do a Peelmantle. Peel appear to be done which puts a smile on everyones dial.

This saturday's game against your mob at leederville should be a good contest, you guys have everything to play for and Subi, it's a case of the players trying to cement a place in the team for finals, so I hope it will be a good hard close contest, you have a midfield to match ours and quality forwards who are in form, it's Subi's backline that could be the difference.

Back to the topic: this thread has focussed on the battle for 4th and 5th, but let's look at the other teams. I guess there's not much for the bottom three to play for other than pride. EF should beat P, but likely to lose against WC. EP have a tough finish with WC and S. I'll be cheering them on this Friday against WC but realistically they will stay on 5 wins. I think SD are some chance against Peel, but then have C in the last round.

SF and C are battling for a home final, which may be important in determining which of them gets flogged by Subi. They go head to head next week, but the week after C have SD and SF play WP away. So even if C lose next week, if SF go down to WP and C win big against SD they could still finish second.

Finally, Subi finish with a couple of danger games against quality opposition so they will need to be at their best but they should have too much class overall and should prevail by about 24 points in each game...

Spot on MO just like your president practically admitted recently you bought a premiership in 2010. West Perth didn't accrue their debt overnight. I would guess when they recruited 2 of the comps leading goal kickers Tyler Keitel from East Perth and Michael Lourey from Frankston they were already behind in their bills to Venues West, the ATO and many many other creditors.

I don't know how Hodyl could comment on the 2010 premiership year players or finances as apart from being a member he had nothing to to do with the coaching or Administration of Swans. There isn't one current Board person who could tell you what caused Swans problems.
What makes me laugh is they believe they now have the answers with a 5 yesr planned yet can't explain why they haven't taken action before.

He basically said they overpaid players which raises questions why didn't the WAFC investigate?

They did investigate SD and fined us $20k from memory for player payment abnormalities much like Perth a year or 2 before that but were found to be not over the salary cap!

they did investigate DD and found they didnt overpay which would mean it was off the books, every club has ways to pay players off the books, Swans just didnt have the finances to keep covering it !

To quote Peter Hodyl in that article in The West paper 10 days ago...

"Swans paid a penalty for their flag success in 2010 with player payments that year nearly crippling the club despite revenue of 3.7 million."
