I was having a bit of a think the other day and how Subi's recent run of success compared to other flags in the past. Whilst not downplaying the dynasty we're currently enjoying I don't think any premiership will surpass 1973 after 49 years in the wilderness. Wins as rank outsiders against EF in 1986 and Claremont in 1988 comes close but the memory of seeing the old timers crying including mum and dad when the siren went in 1973 will live with me forever. I guess Swans supporters will look at 2010 in a similar light and WP 1995 but I'd be interested in getting the opinions of supporters of other clubs on which flags in living memory meant the most and why.

1982 was the first Swans flag I saw live BC and it was particularly sweet after the bitter disappointments of being thrashed in the GF of 1980 and a straight sets exit in 1981. However you are correct, 2010 was the pinnicle just because I had no expectation of us winning that flag, I reckon Claremont would have beaten us 9 times out of 10 but we were lucky that it was the right day.

1986, after all of those horror years and to be underdog after the second semi flogging, was pretty sweet

Funny though mate in our 5 meetings that year we were 2 all and a draw (at Basso) so they dominated the rest over the season but not us. Yeh they were favs going in after a 12 goal semi win but once the ball was bounced in the GF it never looked being anything but a close one. Todd Ridley must still be on his way swimming to Sweden :P
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

1972 was a great win for us, 78 was ok but I still maintain that it was a bit of a Ron Joseph trick.

For the Old East's 1965 would be hard to beat after the heartbreak of defeat in the 3 previous GFs.

I'll go along with that. Not to mention finishing 4th by 1 game, then kicking into the wind in the 4th Q while being about 4 goals down. Swans were the favourites and heading into that last 1/4, all the Swanny supporters around me (not at the game) were cock-a-hoop. Sweet,Sweet revenge - the best GF for me!!

Gotta agree with you about '73 such amazing scenes back in what was then new clubrooms, '86 when the Gummies thought they only had to turn up to collect the flag and tried bully boy tactics that failed dismally against a Bunton team that relentlessly played the ball. '88 was great where Cl had our measure all year except when it counted and 2014 against the eagles reserves who were almost unbackable favourites. Of course 2015 & 2018, as any day we can win a flag against the Joondy invoice dodgers is a great day.

hahaha...yep agree re Joondy last year...they didn't turn up in the GF and probably only gave around 4%. B)
